Westgate Cottage is a charming 17th-century stone built holiday cottage located in the picturesque village of St Lawrence, at the southernmost tip of the island. This delightful detached home, awarded four stars by Visit Britain, nestles in a peaceful location within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it ideal for those wishing to explore the countryside and many coastal walks. The garden is fully enclosed and houses a table and chairs, recliners, BBQ and table tennis table. There is also the option to rent a hot tub via a local supplier at a favourable rate. Originally the local coach house with stables and accommodation for visitors, there are still remnants of a bygone age, with lashing points for the horses and cobbled pathways. The secure gated walled garden provides an ideal area for children and pets. The village has a local post office and store, and popular unspoilt Steephill Cove, cricket club and splendid Botanical Gardens are all close by. The Victorian seaside resort of Ventnor has an esplanade where freshly caught fish, crab and lobster can be purchased. Other places of interest include Isle of Wight Glass, St. Boniface Down, or further afield The Needles, Carisbrook Castle and Osborne House. For the outdoor enthusiast, golf, scenic walks within miles of stunning coastline, riding, cycling, hang-gliding and sailing can all be found nearby. Shop 0.5 miles, pub and restaurant 1.5 miles.

Lovely cottage very spacious with lots of amenities. You need a car to stay there but as a base for exploring the island it was perfect. We were pleasantly surprised after reading some negative reviews but everything worked and was clean and we had a wonderful 4 day break there in the sunshine

Our second visit ,the first being 20 years ago. We love the secure garden, safe for children and dog. Fully stocked kitchen, modern equipment. Plenty of storage space. Bedrooms and bathrooms and toilet clean. The walk to local beach, Steephill Cove is 10 minutes away. It's along the main road for about 100 yards so parents watch your children. Otherwise location good. 10 mins from Ventnor 2 minutes from well stocked Post office. We did have trouble shutting the kitchen window and one of the bedroom windows didn't lock but we use contact number to report this.hope to return next year

Great cottage perfect for our group of 7 plus Dog. Charming, Lovely old cottage , French vibes with plenty of space. facilities great . Lovely outside area. Perfect for our stay. Dog friendly garden fully enclosed . Good communication given on how to get there and how to pick up keys. Would definitely book again. No response from owners when asking questions or raising isues with cottage prior and after staying . We were able to resolve them ourselves so it didn't spoil our visit but it would have been polite to respond. To date no response inform them there was not any bed linen provided for cot or High chair as requested. No hairdryer. Cleaning not of a high standard so had to do this ourselves before we could use things such as bath, dining table or kitchen utensils.
