A unique location, wonderful views over the Cathedral’s north side, illuminated by night with bells each service and bell ringing on the Thursday evening. Easy access to the Cathedral via the Crypt and a lift to the Quire. Entrance to the Cathedral is free when evidence of a stay at the property is shown. Entrance to the grounds is via a secure, 24 hour manned barrier. There is a flight of twelve stone steps to the front door and the stairs from the kitchen up to the sitting room and dining room are a little curved and narrow. The kitchen had everything you could need but a few side lamps in the sitting and dining room would have been nice to add to the simple overhead lamp. The sitting room is a little spartan.Excellent heating throughout the house, difficult to control in a couple of the rooms though. A wonderful selection of books and board games.

The necessarium was an excellent property, all rooms were spotless Kitchen was well equipped .I have only one thing to mention is the description was not correctly described Kitchen and Utility on lower ground floor and ground floor was living room and dining room also a wc, all 4 bedrooms upstairs with the bathroom. As I have a disability I struggle with the stairs so thought my bedroom was on ground floor but other than that the holiday was perfect.

We had a wonderful week in Canterbury. The Necessarium is a beautiful, characterful old house with a nice garden and a view of the ancient cathedral. The house turned out to be suitable for a family with children. We felt very welcome throughout the week.
