Rose Cottage is a charming and cosy retreat, ideally situated for exploring Hythe and the Kent coast. Guests praise its character, proximity to shops, seafront, and walking routes, as well as its suitability for couples and dog owners. The cottage is well-equipped and the host is frequently described as helpful. While some mention steep stairs and the absence of a shower, most found their stay comfortable and enjoyable. Thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts are appreciated, though not guaranteed. Overall, Rose Cottage offers a delightful base for a relaxing getaway.
Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy on arrival, though a few mentioned issues such as stained bedding or a need for deeper cleaning. The majority of reviews are positive regarding cleanliness, but occasional negative remarks lower the score.
The location is highly praised, with easy access to Hythe High Street, the seafront, and local walks. The only minor drawback noted is the steep hill leading to the cottage, but this did not detract significantly from guests' enjoyment.
Guests generally found the cottage cosy and comfortable, especially for couples. Some noted the steep, narrow stairs and the lack of a shower as drawbacks, and a few mentioned the cottage being a bit cramped for larger dogs or those with mobility issues.
The cottage is well-equipped for short stays, with a compact kitchen and useful amenities. However, several guests mentioned the absence of a shower, dated decor, and the need for updated kitchenware and furniture, which affected the overall facilities score.
Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts (wine, biscuits, tea, and milk), as well as useful supplies like towels and cleaning products. Please note that these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Perfect location to shops and beach. Shame killer hill but good to get blood pumping and had read reviews so knew to expect it. Parking easy, excellent to have milk, tea and coffee on arrival. Couldn't resist the choc biscuits but left the wine! Forgot to pack playing cards and as so hot we stayed inside middle of the day but snakes n ladders n dvds available.I lovely little break can thoroughly recommend eating at The Bell. the kings head and truly scrumptious!

Great location - just a short walk to Hythe High Street with shops cafes pubs and restaurants. Parking is provided at the rear but you need to be a good driver and have a small car - it’s easier to park on the road. At the time of our visit we were unable to sit in the garden due to it being overgrown and the scaffolding from next door’s building work. We had a dog which wasn’t even allowed in the garden (it is also unfenced to the road) at the front. There is no shower, just a bath, which could be very difficult for many people. It was tricky washing long hair! The stairs are very narrow and steep especially when you’re trying to carry a case upstairs and there is inadequate storage for clothes. In our opinion the whole place needs some new furniture, a shower and a lot of tlc. It could be lovely. We still enjoyed our holiday but our overall experience could have been enhanced if the cottage facilities and decor were of a higher standard.

We had a wonderful time in this very attractive old cottage. It had everything that we required and the owner was very kind and helpful. I would recommend staying here!
