Fleet Lodge at Mocketts Farm is a peaceful countryside escape tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Harty on the Isle of Sheppey. This modern barn-style cottage sleeps 6+ across three bedrooms, making it a lovely spot for families or friends looking to slow down and reconnect. One of five cottages on Mocketts Farm, Fleet Lodge is just a short stroll from our award-winning Ferry House pub and surrounded by open skies, coastal paths and cycle routes. It’s also dog friendly, with a secure garden and access to a shared dog exercise paddock. Whether you're enjoying breakfast in the garden or watching the sunset with a glass in hand, Fleet Lodge offers a proper break from the everyday - yet it's still just over an hour from London.

Tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Harty, Fleet Lodge is a light-filled, beautifully converted barn with sweeping countryside views from every window. Sleeping six across three comfortable bedrooms (one with an ensuite), it’s a lovely spot for families or friends to escape the everyday and enjoy the slower pace of island life.

The cottage is one of five on the Mocketts Farm estate, where big skies, fresh air and wide open spaces come as standard. Booked on its own or alongside the other cottages, Fleet Lodge offers flexible space for everything from quiet weekends to full-family celebrations - our whole site sleeps up to 53 guests, making it ideal for Christmas gatherings, milestone birthdays or simply bringing far-flung loved ones together.

Just a short stroll down the lane, you’ll find The Ferry House - our 2AA Rosette pub and restaurant - where seasonal dishes are crafted using ingredients from our own kitchen garden, farm and surrounding estate.

Please note, The Ferry House will close for regular dining from April 2026, reopening on select dates for special events. Private dining for larger groups may be offered, subject to availability – please contact us for further details. In-cottage catering will still be available.

Explore Harty & Beyond

Fleet Lodge is perfectly placed to explore the natural beauty of the Isle of Sheppey. From the doorstep, you can walk to the 900-year-old St Thomas’ Church or set out along the circular Isle of Harty Trail - a gentle, mostly traffic-free route that loops past Leysdown Beach and rspb’s “raptor point,” where Marsh Harriers and other rare birds can be spotted soaring above the marshes.

The island is a haven for nature lovers, with Elmley and Swale Nature Reserves nearby and wildlife often visiting the garden - owls, hares, rabbits and ducks are regular guests. Whether you’re walking, cycling, birdwatching or simply enjoying the peace with a cup of tea in the garden, it’s a place that invites you to slow down and reconnect.

There are plenty of local attractions to enjoy, from mini golf at Leysdown-on-Sea and boat trips from Chatham Marina, to historic sites like Minster Abbey and Eastchurch Aviation Museum. For a day out further afield, you’re within an hour’s drive of Canterbury, Rochester, or even the sandy beaches of Broadstairs and Margate.

Dog Friendly, Family Friendly, Year-Round Comfort

Fleet Lodge is dog friendly and has a fully-fenced, dog-safe garden. All guests are also welcome to book time in our dedicated dog exercise paddock on site. Inside, the cottage is well-equipped and welcoming in every season - perfect for midweek breaks, spontaneous escapes or longer stays.

Inside Fleet Lodge

Fleet Lodge sits at the far end of a beautifully converted barn, just next to The Saltings, and is easily spotted by its striking arch windows flanking the front door. Set over two floors, it’s a warm and welcoming space with plenty of room for six - and a little more if needed.

Downstairs

The ground floor is open-plan, with the living area, dining space and kitchen all flowing together - flooded with natural light from the big windows and glass doors that open out to the terrace.

Settle into the lounge area with its comfy seating and 42” TV (Freeview and DVD player included), perfect for lazy mornings or cosy evenings in.

Mealtimes are relaxed and sociable around the dining table, which seats eight and looks out across the fields through a beautiful arch window.

The well-equipped U-shaped kitchen includes an American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and everything you need to self-cater with ease - from pans and utensils to crockery and glassware.

There’s also a handy downstairs cloakroom with a WC and basin.

Upstairs

Fleet Lodge has three bedrooms, all of which can be arranged as doubles or twins - just let us know your preference. Each bedroom also has its own TV with a DVD player.

One of the bedrooms has its own ensuite with a shower, WC and basin.

The family bathroom includes a shower over the bath, WC and basin.

A cot, camp bed or sofa bed can be added for larger groups - just get in touch before booking to chat through the options.

Outside Space

Fleet Lodge has its own fully enclosed, dog-safe garden, great for both two- and four-legged guests to enjoy.

You’ll also have access to Mocketts Farm’s shared grounds, with picnic benches, a lawn, a fenced duck pond, and our dedicated dog exercise paddock - available to book for all guests.

There’s off-road parking right outside.

Practical Bits:

One dog is welcome by prior arrangement (two small dogs may be considered - please ask when booking).

Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are all included. We kindly ask guests to bring beach towels and cot bedding, if needed.

This is a no-smoking property.
