Guests also have access to the shared grounds at Mocketts Farm, including picnic spots, an enclosed duck pond and a games room. Harrier’s Nest is dog friendly, with a fully fenced, dog-safe garden, and access to our on-site dog exercise paddock - free to book for all cottage guests. Whether you're looking for a midweek recharge or a weekend escape, Harrier’s Nest is a little slice of countryside calm just over an hour from London.

Please note, The Ferry House will close for regular dining from April 2026, reopening on select dates for special events. Private dining for larger groups may be offered, subject to availability – please contact us for further details. In-cottage catering will still be available.

Life on the Isle of Sheppey moves to a slower rhythm. Tucked between the coast and surrounding marshes, Harty is like an island within an island - quiet, scenic and rich in wildlife. Set out on foot or by bike along the flat, well-marked trails that loop through nature reserves and past estuary views stretching out to the Thames.

From birdwatching at Elmley and The Swale, to swimming at Leysdown-on-Sea or Minster Beach, or indulging in a long pub lunch at The Ferry House, your days can be as restful or as active as you like. There’s clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, golf and local museums all within 30 minutes, and Canterbury, Bluewater, and Maidstone are within easy reach for a change of pace.

Dog Friendly & Year-Round Comfort

Harrier’s Nest is dog friendly, with a fully fenced, dog-safe garden, and access to our bookable dog exercise paddock, open to all guests staying at Mocketts Farm. You might even spot hares, owls or other wildlife without leaving the garden.

The cottage is available to book all year round, with flexible rates and great value on multi-night stays, midweek escapes and last-minute getaways.

Inside Harrier's Nest

Harrier’s Nest is a charming countryside cottage full of character and comfort, with beautiful rural views and space to relax across two levels.

Downstairs:

Cosy living room with two comfy sofas, a TV with Freeview, and a selection of family-friendly games. French doors open onto the patio and frame those sweeping countryside views perfectly.

Well-equipped kitchen/diner, complete with an American-style fridge-freezer, quality appliances, and everything you need for relaxed self-catering. The dining table seats four comfortably, ideal for slow breakfasts or supper after a day exploring.

A thoughtful welcome hamper with local juices and biscuits helps you settle in from the moment you arrive.

Upstairs:

Two flexible bedrooms, each set up as a king or twin depending on your needs. Both rooms have countryside views and their own TV with DVD player.

Family bathroom with a shower over the bath, WC, and hand basin.

Travel cots and fold-out beds are available - just let us know when booking.

Outside:

Harrier’s Nest has its own fully fenced, dog-safe garden, ideal for four-legged friends and young explorers alike.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy the shared grounds at Mocketts Farm, including picnic areas, a fenced duck pond, and a shared games room.

Off-street parking is provided, and the dog exercise paddock is available to book free of charge for all guests staying on the farm.

A travel cot (no bedding), highchair, and stair gate are available on request.

Please bring your own cot bedding, beach towels, and dog towels if needed.

Short breaks are welcome, subject to availability.
