For day trips, Margate (4.5 miles) has the restored Dreamland theme park and the Turner Contemporary Gallery, while Ramsgate (2 miles) is perfect for watching sailing boats in the marina. The historic city of Canterbury (19 miles), with its cathedral and excellent shopping, is also a wonderful option.
