About this property

Ellie's Cottage is a lovely, stone-fronted home situated in the Cotswolds village of Burford, Oxfordshire. Ellie's Cottage provides a contemporary base for a group of four while resting near a hub of amenities and attractions and surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; enjoy its fusion of style and charm throughout. Take advantage of an allocated parking place before entering the spacious, light-filled open-plan area. Make use of this space as your social hub, a place to cook food, eat, and relax with the electric fire on in the background. Take advantage of the private garden if the weather permits before retiring to one of the two tastefully decorated bedrooms, each with beamed ceilings and original doors; choose between a king-size and a double (zip/link). The cottage includes a trendy shower room with sleek fittings that offers a lovely place to get ready for the upcoming days. Before visiting the Tolsey Museum, The Great House, and the Burford Garden Company, a delightful garden centre, stock up on necessities at one of the local convenience stores or eat out at The Prince of Burford, The Highway Inn Burford, or one of the many eateries along River Windrush. The Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens, Crocodiles of the World, and Kilkenny Lane Country Park are all nearby and well worth adding to your itinerary. The National Trust properties of Lodge Park and Sherborne Park Estate is also close by and ideal for day trips on rainy days. When travelling, make sure to stop in Bourton-on-the-Water, where you can hike through Greystones Farm Nature Reserve, explore the Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection, and dine out at a restaurant with views of the river. Oxford can also be reached for a day of art, culture, and heritage, before returning home in time for dinner. Make memories while staying at Ellie's Cottage.

Perhaps one of the most well-known Cotswolds sites is Burford. It is legitimately one of the most scenic towns in England with its mediaeval bridge, old stone homes, and lovely Tudor and Georgian frontages. The town, which is frequently referred to as the "Gateway to the Cotswolds," began as a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford and eventually developed into a significant regional junction and a prosperous wool town. It is a small refuge of history and beauty that many visitors fall in love with when they visit and is situated halfway between Oxford and Cheltenham. The Tolsey Museum, a beautiful neighbourhood museum that depicts the town's social and industrial heritage, is housed in the 16th-century Tolsey building, which served as the gathering place for mediaeval merchants in the past.

Not particularly clean, especially the bathroom. Big problem with ants in the kitchen. Have been charged (without my knowledge) for damage to some bedding though it was an item that neither of us can ever recall having seen in the property. No response by Sykes Cottages staff to my queries about this charge.

Beautifully furnished, exceptionally clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped. Dogs welcomed, throws and accessories, thank you. We ate at The Inn for All Seasons on the A40 (close to Burford) great food, very friendly service and dog friendly.
