Guests say

Guests have praised the Longhouse for its cleanliness, beautiful location, and friendly hosts. The cottage offers a peaceful retreat with great walks and proximity to local amenities. While some guests mentioned the need for updates, particularly in the bathroom and bedding, the overall experience is one of a comfortable and welcoming stay in a scenic part of Cornwall.

The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with multiple reviews noting it as very clean and well-maintained.

The location is frequently described as beautiful and peaceful, close to beaches, shops, and scenic walks, though some guests noted the lack of mobile signal and Wi-Fi as a drawback.

Comfort received mixed reviews. While the cottage is generally seen as comfortable, several guests reported issues with hard beds and dated furniture, suggesting room for improvement.

Facilities are adequate but several reviews suggest the need for updates, particularly in the bathroom and with the mattresses. The mention of a washing machine that leaves clothes smelling worse indicates some maintenance issues.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to score this category.

About this property

St Keverne 0.5 miles. This character barn conversion sits in the beautiful well-kept grounds of Chywoone Farmhouse, in a secluded rural position, half a mile from the pretty village of St Keverne on the Lizard Peninsula. This cosy St Keverne cottage provides well presented accommodation suitable for a family or small group of walkers with a sitting room with feature stone fireplace and woodburner-effect electric fire for those cooler evenings. This St Keverne cottage is furnished in traditional rustic style and is a garden lover's paradise as visitors not only have their own lovely garden to relax in, but can also wander around the 2-acre garden shared with the other cottages.

Further afield, Trelissick Garden and Glendurgan are well worth a visit for their sub-tropical plants and carefully landscaped slopes leading down to the water's edge. The Lizard provides ample walking opportunities along the dramatic coastline and the Helford River, while shoppers will love to visit nearby Falmouth with its bustling revived quayside area. This St Keverne cottage provides a fabulous retreat off the beaten track but is only half a mile from the attractive Cornish village of St Keverne with traditional pubs and shops surrounding the square. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 3998 and 26701, together they sleep 8.

The village of St Keverne lies on the eastern side of The Lizard Peninsula just 1.25 miles inland with its village pubs and shops surrounding the village square, and an impressive church spire, at one time used to guide the Cornish fishermen home. From St Keverne you can explore the spectacular beauty of the Lizard Peninsula by car, bicycle or on foot. You will find tiny secret coves, sandy bays and dramatic cliff walks along the South West Coastal path. Just north is the Helford River, a yachtsman's dream and home to Frenchman's Creek, and picturesque Helford village. Further afield visit Falmouth with one of the largest natural harbours, Pendennis Castle built by Henry viii, and of course you cannot miss out on a trip to The National Maritime Museum.

The approachable owners have made a lovely garden which they are happy for guests to explore. The location proved to be ideal base for exploring the entire Lizard. My only suggestion would be to prune back the hazel tree as the overhanging branches sometimes strike the dormer windows on windy nights.

    Just the ticket!

Liked to watch the bats fly around the adjoining firlds and house at night! The cottage is now a bit dated and could do with a refurb but it was fine for what we wanted close to the Lizard for walks with the dog.
