Barfield’s Cherry Tree Cottage is a converted stone barn, ideal for a family with children or couples looking for a cosy country retreat with the added benefit of two separate sitting rooms, each with its own TV and DVD player. One of the key features of this pretty holiday cottage is the use of the owners’ beautiful indoor heated swimming pool (1 minute’s walk from the cottage).
The cottage has its own private patio-style garden to the front with a lovely sitting-out area and there is a small games room available (1 minute’s walk from the cottage).
The owners, who live close by, are themselves very accommodating and a lovely welcome pack is provided for guests.
The property is situated on a 35-acre smallholding with sheep, horses, chickens and ducks, close to Canworthy Water in the heart of rural Cornwall, and just a short drive from some superb coastal towns and beaches such as Bude and Crackington Haven. The pretty villages of Padstow, where the renowned chef Rick Stein boasts a superb seafood restaurant and deli shop; Port Isaac where Doc Martin was filmed, and Rock are all worth a visit. Mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur’s Castle is close by, whilst the wild beauty of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor are a must for walkers. For a great day out try Crealy Adventure Park and the famous Eden Project. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

The owners Sarah and Barrie were enormously helpful and extremely friendly. Nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay in September 2025. The cottage was fully equipped (dishwasher, washing machine, fan assisted oven, toaster, coffee machine, large fridge freezer, etc) and we were welcomed with twelve delicious home made brownies and a freshly made loaf of rustic bread which was a lovely touch! The cottage itself was fantastic. Comfy, spacious, with all the mod cons in a good old fashioned country cottage. Bedrooms were a good size and the beds were extremely comfy! Toilet downstairs and two upstairs (which also have showers - no bath, which was fine). There are two TVs downstairs in seperate rooms. The main TV is modern and fully equipped, so you can access your own Netflix, Prime, Disney+, plus accounts. There's free BT WIFI and the signal is availalble all over the cottage, both upstairs and downstairs with approximately 75 GB download speeds, so ideal for anyone needing good reliable internet access. The games room is in a seperate unit from the cottage, but is only a one-minute walk away across the courtyard. Inside was a working TV, heater and good lighting. The pool table/table tennis was a favorite, along with a darts board, table football and plenty of puzzles and childrens toys for hours of fun. Best of all was the owners heated swimming pool which was open to us between 9am and 6pm. It is housed indoors in a beautiful barn convertion with plenty of sunlight through a well thought our window system and has a fully functioning shower unit and large changing room. We are hoping to return next year as we has such a relaxing week. 10/10 rating.

What an excellent cottage. Right in the centre of north Cornwall. Had a brilliant break. The facilities at the cottage are top notch. Our friend’s children loved the games room and the pool. Everything was clean and tidy and well maintained. Sarah was also very helpful and the brownies were amazing. Would recommend this cottage
