The Old School House in Cornwall offers a charming stay with its lovely garden, games room, and comfortable furnishings. Guests appreciate the well-equipped cottage, the welcoming local pub, and the property's suitability for exploring Cornwall. While some guests mention areas for improvement, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Cleanliness received mixed feedback. Several guests found the property spotless and well-prepared, while others reported issues with cleanliness, including unclean kitchen areas and presence of pet hair. The management's response to cleanliness concerns is not mentioned, which affects the score.
The location is highly praised for its convenience for exploring Cornwall and its placement in a lovely village. The proximity to local attractions and the secure garden for pets are frequently mentioned as positives.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the property spacious. However, some guests suggest updates to the shower facilities and conservatory furniture, indicating room for improvement in these areas.
Facilities like the games room, well-stocked kitchen, and conservatory are appreciated, but some guests note that the games room and certain appliances require maintenance. The presence of a games room is a highlight, though its condition and equipment quality are noted as needing attention.
Guests frequently mention the thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts of scones, prosecco, and dog treats. These gestures are warmly received, although it is important to note that such gifts are subject to change and not guaranteed for every stay.
In an ideal location for touring all of Cornwall as well as Dartmoor, this former school house dating back to the 1860s has been beautifully renovated and refurbished to a high standard to provide a wonderful holiday home. Set in the traditional rural country village of Lewannick, six miles from the ancient capital of Cornwall, Launceston, makes access to both north and south coasts relatively easy, being situated only two miles from the main A30 trunk road which runs from Exeter in Devon to Lands End. As you enter The Old School House you will immediately feel at home going through the porch into the kitchen with a delightful conservatory overlooking the garden. Through into the hallway which takes you to the light and airy dining room and the cosy sitting room both with magnificent high ceilings being a feature of the period which the house would have originated from. There are four bedrooms here all different to give options for all the family, a master king-size double, a double, a twin and a single. Outside an enclosed garden complete with garden furniture is a peaceful spot to relax and appreciate the far-reaching countryside views. The garage here is converted to provide a games room and entertainment whatever the weather. A short walk to the village will take you the local pub the Archer Arms, a community pub offering a choice of good food and local ales. The village shop will provide you with all your everyday requirements. Nearby Launceston has been a market town since the time of the Normans and there are still some fine buildings, the medieval south gate and the ruins of a castle to explore. Being so well located your choices for a day out from here are endless making the Old School House an ideal comfortable base for a holiday all year round.
