Downicary Chapel Stable is a well-regarded cottage, praised for its high standard of fittings, cleanliness, and peaceful rural location. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches for both human and canine visitors, though some mention the bathroom's low ceiling and the firmness of the beds. The property's charm, coupled with its suitability for dogs and proximity to Devon and Cornwall attractions, makes it a popular choice for a relaxing getaway.
The cottage receives high praise for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting its immaculate condition. Only a few minor comments about dead insects and cobwebs slightly detract from an otherwise exceptional standard.
The location is celebrated for its tranquillity and scenic views, offering a serene escape and good access to local attractions. Some guests, however, found the remote setting challenging due to poor mobile signal and lack of Wi-Fi.
Guests find the beds very comfortable, with the living space described as cosy and spacious. However, the comfort score is slightly lowered due to comments about the firmness of the double bed and the low ceiling in the bathroom, which could be problematic for taller individuals.
The cottage is well-equipped, with a wood burner and a kitchen that meets guests' needs. However, there are remarks about the lack of Wi-Fi, the absence of a full shower, and some maintenance issues like the broken freezer compartment and the need for better garden furniture.
Many reviews mention the thoughtful provisions for both people and pets, including welcome treats and essentials. While these gestures are appreciated, it is noted that such gifts may vary and are not guaranteed with every stay.
