Cragford boasts an exceptional location with stunning sea views and private beach access, offering a tranquil and picturesque setting. The property's spaciousness and comfortable furnishings are appreciated, alongside the unique and well-appointed bedrooms. The natural beauty and quiet surroundings contribute to a memorable stay.
The cleanliness of the property has received mixed feedback. Some guests have noted issues such as sticky kitchen worktops, filthy sofas, and unclean windows, which detract from the overall experience. However, there are also mentions of the property being in a satisfactory state upon arrival.
The location is consistently praised as outstanding, with its proximity to the beach, stunning sea views, and quiet setting. Guests are enamoured by the picturesque surroundings and the property's unique position, which is ideal for exploring Cornwall.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the living areas spacious. However, some concerns are raised about heating issues and the comfort of additional sleeping arrangements like sofa beds. The main bedroom's lack of curtains to block out light also affects comfort for some.
While the property offers a range of facilities, including a home cinema and well-equipped kitchen, guests have reported maintenance issues such as broken appliances, stiff locks, and inadequate plumbing. The need for repairs and updates is a recurring theme in the feedback.
There is insufficient information to accurately assess the level of thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or welcome packs. While some guests mention the lack of a welcome pack, there is no consistent reference to gifts being provided or expected, so a score cannot be given.
This is quite simply one of the most outstanding holiday homes in Cornwall, set within acres of private grounds in a breathtaking clifftop position with private access to Gwenver Beach and Sennen Cove. Cragford offers exceptional accommodation in one of the most beautiful areas of the UK, just four miles along the coast from Land's End. The spectacular, far-reaching sea views can be enjoyed as you approach the property along the private lane, though they truly reveal their full impact when you arrive. Four steps lead down to the front door and into an impressive slate hallway. The main living area, with back-to-back sitting rooms, commands some of the most spectacular sea views imaginable.
Whatever the season, it’s easy to lose hours here watching the Atlantic roll in, with the natural world providing an ever-changing backdrop. Alternatively, the home cinema offers the perfect spot for relaxed evenings curled up on one of the many cosy sofas. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen and dining area features a large table where everyone can gather for breakfast while planning the day ahead. The accommodation provides flexible sleeping arrangements, including two twin rooms, a family room with an adjoining room containing a child’s single and cot, and, most impressively, the master bedroom. This extraordinary room must be seen to be believed, remarkable both for its scale and its feature domed window framing remarkable coastal views.
The ceiling has been painstakingly painted to create the illusion of sleeping beneath a star-filled sky on the deck of a galleon. The en-suite bathroom continues the sense of indulgence with a striking freestanding bath that perfectly suits such a memorable space. Outside, the grounds provide numerous places to sit and relax, along with the added bonus of a dedicated sauna room beneath the house. This built-in sauna creates a wonderfully private spa-style experience, complete with a shower just outside for an invigorating cold-water contrast. Guests seeking an alternative sauna experience can also book a session with Bos Sauna, set right on the edge of the cove with sweeping views across the Atlantic, and for the brave, a refreshing sea dip afterwards.
A stroll down to Gwenver Beach reveals some of Cornwall’s best surfing conditions, and at low tide it joins its neighbour Sennen Cove, widely regarded as one of the county’s finest stretches of sand. Here, visitors can book a lesson with the award-winning Sennen Surfing Centre, located right on the golden sands, or simply enjoy the beachside atmosphere before heading to Sennen Surf Lodge for relaxed food with a view of the waves. For those exploring the dramatic coastline, the nearby South West Coast Path offers unforgettable walking. A trip to Land’s End is a must, and weary ramblers will find a welcome pit-stop at Land's End Coffee Bar & Roastery, just a short stroll from the famous headland.
With its spectacular setting, exceptional comfort and easy access to Cornwall’s wild coastline, Cragford promises a truly memorable stay in an iconic location, whatever the time of year.

The pictures don't do justice to the almost perfect combination of panoramic sea views to the Scilly Isles, an acre or so of striking blue hydrangea bordered garden, wild pathway to the beach, quintessential Cornwall. Some of the previous reviews mentioned concerns with the maintenance of the house. It is very exposed, hence the wonderful views, so not surprisingly the outside of the house is weathered as would be expected but nothing detrimental to the experience of staying there. On the inside everything was in working order and with high-quality fittings/appliances. Kitchen appliances are new or recent and it was well stocked with all the plates/glasses/utensils etc. Showers were sightly wonky but worked fine after a little fiddling the controls. The big screen projector worked well, just a little patience from my 13 yr old son was required to follow the detailed instructions of how to set it up for Wimbledon and Euros. As I was expecting to loose to both Switzerland and Holland I had already mentally prepared to retreat to the dramatic sunset views for solace, but as it happened, I was able to run victory laps inside the house high fiving and hugging my family while still basking in the sunset through the windows. Downstairs sauna, while on the outside looking like it might not work, was on in a jiffy with one flick of a switch.

the location is unparalleled. but, as most of the reviews say, the property needs a lot of improvement. Some may appreciate the lingering atmosphere of many a wild aristocratic party in the 70s , but itâs probably time to move on now. Three points in particular are worth spending time on : 1. the kitchen is bizarrely under-equipped for such a large house (there are about 25 mugs, but about two knives and forks), salt and pepper cellars empty - it feels a bit of a farce 2. The main windows looking out to sea are misted up ! Perhaps time to use some of the substantial loot generated by paying guests to replace them , so we can all see the wonderful view unobstructed by the grimy looking sheen . And it really is a wonderful view 3. Moving outside on the decking reveals the view is obscured once more, this time by shrubs - these need to go ! When sitting and relaxing on this amazing decking all you can see is shrubbery. Yes you can stand while enjoying your morning tea but most will prefer to breakfast whilst sedentary. As the house and location as a whole are so extraordinary , I would imagine most guests simply accept these issues as part of the charm , but itâs doing the place and the visitors a disservice to not value the magnificent surroundings, but just giving the shrubbery a trim and sorting out the windows. Maybe add some forks also.

It's its unique location and the general comfort of a very spacious, well appointed clifftop house, mind - not the general state of the doubtless unique property which could do with some loving care... We'll probably be back nonetheless!
