This was a lovely cottage in a great location with a very helpful owner, but really in need of an internal upgrade. It was not as clean as it could have been although the bathroom and kitchen were fine. The beds were super old and very uncomfortable. The kettle actually stopped working completely during our stay. There was no internet although the owners are making efforts to improve on that. I was expecting a higher quality of accommodation for the price we paid. Overall I would definitely recommend it because the location and setting was lovely but be aware that it did not meet expectations for the price.

I’m writing to provide some feedback regarding our recent stay at The Old Bakehouse in Cornwall. While we appreciate the character and “old-world” charm of the property, we did encounter several issues that affected our enjoyment of the holiday.Firstly, the cottage had a persistent musty smell, and the overall cleanliness fell short of expectations. The paintwork was tired and would benefit from freshening up, and the bathroom was not properly cleaned prior to our arrival. In addition, several windows and hatches were rusty, which detracted from the comfort of the stay.The bedding was also disappointing. While the quilt covers appeared clean, they had a slightly musty smell and the bedding felt old and worn rather than fresh and crisp. We also noticed a significant ant problem during our stay, with visible ants present in the property.Outside, the sitting area was too overgrown to make practical use of the sun loungers. Weeds and plants were growing through them, and the area did not feel well maintained.One of the biggest disappointments was the lack of Wi-Fi. The listing stated that Wi-Fi was available, but there was none during our stay. This was a significant inconvenience for us.We understand that part of the charm of an older property lies in its traditional feel, but a deep clean, some basic maintenance, refreshed bedding, and attention to advertised amenities would make a considerable difference for future guests.Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback.
