Located in North Cornwall’s popular village Port Isaac, Sea Holly Cottage is a charming and beautifully appointed dog friendly cottage, a stone’s throw from the harbour, coastline and Port Gaverne beach. Ideal for a couple or family of four, the cottage has been renovated to an exceptional standard whilst maintaining much of the character found in traditional Port Isaac properties, with features like exposed beams and slate floors.
Enjoy a long day at the beach or exploring the village before returning to your holiday home, where on the ground floor you will find a fabulous kitchen and dining area which combines traditional slate flooring with modern décor – a wonderful space for cooking and socialising in together as a family. There is a separate sitting room with a woodburning stove for cosy winter evenings.
After your day of exploring comes to a close, make your way to the first floor to find two very comfortable bedrooms, a double with views over the rolling countryside and garden, and a twin room, as well as a family shower room.
Offering the perfect space for al fresco dining or garden games, outside there is both a patio area with outdoor seating for relaxing lunches in the sunshine, and also an enclosed lawn for the children to play in and burn off any excess energy.
For fun and adventure with the kids, head down to the harbour for rockpooling opportunities, or visit nearby Port Quin (a fairly strenuous 1.5 hour coastal walk, or a 10-minute car journey), for canoeing and kayaking, and why not visit the fascinating Doyden Castle whilst you are there! Also easily accessible via a 20-minute drive is Wadebridge, where there is a swimming pool, cinema and the amazing Camel Trail – hire bikes and cycle all the way to Padstow along the estuary.
Whether you are visiting with your children, or are looking for a romantic getaway for two in a convenient location for exploring North Cornwall, Sea Holly Cottage is a great option.
Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.

The property is well placed in the village. The cottage is characterful with original slate floors, original floorboards and log burner. The living room was a good size and comfortable. The master bedroom was spacious, with plenty of storage and a comfy mattress. The bathroom looks pretty new and is modern with a nice shower. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with crockery, etc. There is a table top freezer in a cupboard but the ice box in the fridge could do with defrosting. We stayed during the September heatwave so really appreciated the patio, which was an absolute sun trap. The plant area could do with a trim, itâs quite overgrown and around the front needs a little attention due to mud, leaves, etc. That said we had a wonderful week and will be back.

Comfortable beds and furniture, it had a very well equipped kitchen which made cooking at home very easy. Good wifi which was essential as there is no phone signal at all in Port Isaac. The cottage has an enclosed garden which was great for our dogs but itâs a shame more isnât made of it and it was looking a bit neglected. Port Isaac itself is lovely and some great places to eat plus a well stocked coop meaning we didnât have to use our car much. We were aware there was no parking included but with the cottage, but it would have been helpful to have some advice on parking with the other pre-booking information as it was extremely limited and the carparks are very busy and expensive and when you stay for a week or more.

The only thing we would suggest would be a fence fixed to the low wall in the back garden or a gate separating the lower level garden. As our two dogs joined us on our holiday ,we were unable to let them out in the garden off of their leads as the wall was so low one of the dogs escaped . The path to the front of the cottage could do with a clean up ,very soggy and slippery. Apart from that all was good. Kind regards Marilyn
