Guests say

Boundys House in Cornwall offers a charming stay with a beautiful garden and a well-equipped kitchen. The property is appreciated for its comfort, character, and secure outdoor space for pets. Its proximity to local transport and eateries is also noted, although some guests mention traffic noise and parking challenges.

Several reviews mention issues with cleanliness, including cobwebs and dust, which suggests room for improvement. However, not all reviews are negative, indicating inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The location is generally praised for its convenience to public transport and local amenities. However, concerns about a busy road and parking difficulties slightly detract from the overall positive feedback.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the garden enjoyable, especially for pets. Some concerns about ventilation and noise from the road are noted, but overall, the property provides a comfortable stay.

The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, and offers a lovely garden. However, maintenance issues such as non-opening windows and minor damages are mentioned, suggesting a need for attention to facilities.

While some guests mention a lovely surprise upon arrival, there is not enough consistent information about gifts or additional thoughtful touches to accurately assess this category.

About this property

Boundy's House is a beautifully restored, Grade II listed cottage 3 miles from popular St Ives. Inside, this place is full of character with beams and a roaring open fire in the cosy sitting room inglenook. There's a large, double-aspect lounge, with sofas and a chaise longue, so you'll never want for somewhere to sit and relax. On the first floor are three bedrooms, two doubles, one with a king-size bed and a twin. Outside is a large and lovely enclosed garden with a neat lawn, a small pond and a table and chairs. Boundy's House is in a popular area of west Cornwall and from here it's easy to catch the coastal train to St Ives. Spend the day browsing the many interesting shops and galleries or on sunning yourself on one of the many excellent beaches. Further afield you can stroll along the prom and take in views of Mount's Bay in Penzance, take in a show at the fabulous Minack cliff-top theatre in Porthcurno, or visit Land's End for breathtaking scenery and family fun.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more.

Also, as the listing mentioned a pond but didn't show any images i asked if it was covered or safe with dogs about. I heard nothing back on either of these points. There was an iron and an ironing board but the board didn't have a cover. As for the pond, really think the word pond is stretching it. It was a large puddle in a stone. My dog liked to drink from it though which i discouraged him from obviously. The garden itself was lovely and well kept. Spent many a chilled hour. It has sun all day and really is a treat for this part of Cornwall. The house was like visiting your grandparents house. It had a real family owned feel, and was generally fine. There are lots of spiders but that didn't bother us. Really think though that a double bed rather than two singles in the backroom away from traffic noise would be an idea. There was dirty linen in a bag in the bathroom, and might have brought back some creepy crawlies with us but not sure if that came from the house. I loved the kitchen feel, and liked the way you could open up the door to the garden. Equipment wise it was all fine, feel the TV could do with an upgrade. All in all at the right price we would return!

Sofa & carpets need steam cleaning Annoying cars from neighbours parking on pavement meant it was tricky to enter / exit the property. If there more than one car staying at the property might be a challenge. Garden was lovely, if you could get over the constant traffic noise. Birdies Cafe well worth a visit & Badger & Water Mill pub nice , Old Quay Inn very friendly with great views.

The huge crack in the kitchen sink is surely a hygiene issue as is the lack of grouting between the tiles in both the bathroom and the toilet. The entrance porch had that many cobwebs that it looked like it not been cleaned in a while. The level of dust (and in some cases dead flies) on the sash windows told a similar story. The top of the cooker hood had a layer of grease on it – when you consider how often guests use the cooker (the guest book is full of comments about guests eating out) this cannot have been cleaned for a long time. This lack of attention to maintenance and cleaning shows something of a disrespect to guests.
