Hillside Cottage in Torpoint, Cornwall, is generally appreciated for its cosy feel, welcoming atmosphere, and beautiful garden with estuary views. Guests enjoy the local walks, proximity to a pub, and the comfort provided by the property. Some concerns were raised about cleanliness and maintenance, but the positive experiences and thoughtful touches like cream teas on arrival seem to outweigh the negatives.
Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage to be lovely and clean, while others reported issues with pet hair, a grimy kitchen, and a filthy shower curtain. The presence of both positive and negative comments leads to a slightly above average score.
The location is highly praised for its fantastic walks, proximity to a pub, and local beaches. The village charm and views are also appreciated, contributing to a high score for location.
Guests find the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable, with high-quality bedding and a wood-burning fire. However, some concerns about the heating system and a downstairs bathroom affect the comfort level for some guests.
Facilities are generally well-received, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and useful appliances. However, maintenance issues such as a broken wall, dampness, and garden upkeep detract from the overall experience.
Several guests mention thoughtful gestures such as a cream tea on arrival and welcome packs, which contribute to a positive experience. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, the score reflects the possibility of inconsistency.

Crafthole is a beautiful village in southeast Cornwall, situated on the Rame Peninsula. Sheviock Parish is home to a charming little village with a country pub, a general store, a chapel, a post office, and a community centre. This sneaky village gained notoriety in the 19th century for smuggling rum through the Portwrinkle harbour and up the long and steep hill to Crafthole Methodist Chapel. Portwrinkle is a beautiful seaside village that features a large golf course, sandy beaches, and a historic building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (Grade II listed building). There are many wonderful places to visit in the area, such as the bustling city of Plymouth, the charming seaside town of Looe, and the picturesque fishing villages of Millbrook and Downderry. Antony is a small town close by that is a popular tourist destination due to its many tourist attractions, including its gardens, museums, boat trips, and opportunities for hiking and biking along the cliffs. If you're touring the Cornish coast and need a peaceful respite, Crafthole is a great choice.
