Courtyard Cottage offers welcoming spaces inside and out, designed for both relaxation and sociable gatherings. The gardens are bathed in the sun from morning until night.
Inside the main Barn Conversion, the heart of the home is the open-plan living area, where a wood burner creates a cosy atmosphere. This space flows naturally into the dining area and the fully equipped kitchen, making it easy to cook, eat, and unwind together. From the dining room, a door opens directly onto a smaller yet generous rear garden. The Barn Conversion also features two comfortable bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two singles, along with a full bathroom, where the washing machine is neatly tucked away. The annexe, affectionately called The Dog House, adds extra charm, offering a double bedroom with its own en-suite shower room. The Dog House has it’s own front door and no internal connecting door.
A holiday in Hartland offers the perfect mix of coastal beauty, local charm, and plenty to explore. The village itself is welcoming, with a good selection of traditional pubs, cafés, and independent shops, making it easy to enjoy a relaxed pace of life. A short walk leads you to the famous South West Coast Path (the Salt Path), offering breathtaking walks with stunning sea views. Just a short drive away lies the dramatic Hartland Quay, famed for its rugged cliffs, fascinating geology, and sweeping views that capture the wild spirit of the Atlantic coast.
Beyond the village, the North Devon coastline is full of opportunities for adventure. Picturesque villages such as Clovelly, with its cobbled streets and historic harbour, make for a memorable day out. Families will enjoy nearby sandy beaches like Westward Ho! and Bude, while gardens, galleries, and heritage sites provide plenty of variety.
Whether you’re after coastal hikes with your furry friends, lazy beach days, or cultural discoveries, Hartland is a fantastic base for exploring North Devon.

We spent a lovely week at Courtyard Cottage. The owners supplied us with all the details we needed to enjoy our stay. The cottage was cosy and was well supplied with everything we needed. There were nice touches with there being a supply of teabags, sugar, coffee as well as milk and treats which were very useful whilst waiting for the shopping to arrive, even dogs are catered for with treats, towels, dog bowls and basket. The "dog house" is accessed from the outside of the main cottage, but we personally loved this (as the couple that got to stay in it) as it gave us that added privacy, with its own ensuite. We were happy to stay there and then go to the main part of the cottage when we were up and ready, or to retreat to if we wanted a bit of quiet time. It was in a lovely quiet, rural area with walks on the doorstep, only 10/15 minutes walk to the coastal path from the National Trust carpark, and only 15 minute drive to Hartland Quay where we did a stunning walk to some waterfalls. We had a fantastic stay, the place made for a very relaxed holiday. We would definitely stay again.
