The Old Barn in Bideford offers a comfortable and authentic country experience, with a spacious and well-appointed interior. Guests appreciate the enclosed garden and the property's proximity to North Devon Coast attractions. Some issues with cleanliness and maintenance were noted, but the owner's pleasant and caring nature, along with the property's charm, contribute to a generally positive experience.
The main areas of The Old Barn were found to be clean; however, some guests noted concerns such as unclean items on the walls, leftover food in the oven, and a coat found under a bed. These instances suggest room for improvement in thoroughness.
The property is well-located for exploring North Devon and Cornwall. However, some guests were disappointed by the distance to the nearest pub and local shop, which were further than expected. The enclosed garden was a highlight for pet owners.
Guests found The Old Barn to be spacious and generally comfortable, with a quirky charm that history lovers enjoyed. The strategic placement of a duck to prevent head bumps on low ceilings was both helpful and amusing.
The property was well-appointed, but there were issues with overly hot water from upstairs taps and difficulties with WiFi connectivity in the lounge. Parking could be tight for two cars due to a narrow entrance.
While guests found the property owner to be pleasant and caring, there were no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would fall under the category of thoughtfulness. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

There were a few problems the water from the water upstairs taps were so hot it could have burnt someone. Phoned and reported it to the owner. The spare was larger than expected lots of rooms the main place was clean but the things hanging on the walls hadn’t been cleaned for some time.

The accommodation was spacious and generally well presented. The owner was very pleasant, friendly and caring. The duck was strategically placed to prevent banging of heads on the low ceilings We found that helpful and amusing. We couldn’t get the WiFi to work in the lounge. The cleaning was a little concerning, we found cooked chips in the oven and a coat under a bed. The cushions had not been tidied and there was a long handled duster left on one of the chairs.
