From the quayside, guests can hop on the seasonal ferry across the estuary to Instow, home to a wide sandy beach, popular cafés and relaxed waterside dining. Keen walkers can join the nearby South West Coast Path, offering beautiful estuary and coastal routes, while family-friendly attractions such as The Milky Way Adventure Park, which is only 11 miles away. Only 2.5 miles away, Westward Ho!’s expansive sandy beach and championship links golf course are also close by, making this an ideal base for exploring North Devon.

From many of the bedrooms, guests can wake up to far-reaching views across the water.

Outside, the enclosed garden offers several inviting spaces to relax and unwind. There’s a lawn ideal for children or lazy afternoons, a patio for al fresco dining complete with both gas and charcoal barbecues, and a deck overlooking the estuary with views across to Instow. Guests are also welcome to use the dedicated shed, stocked with games, beach gear, wetsuits and boogie boards — perfect for making the most of days by the sea. Together, the outdoor spaces provide a wonderful extension of the house, ideal for soaking up Appledore’s coastal charm.
