This historic building dates from the 1820’s and was originally a working forge. The pretty, detached, single story, barn conversion has been sympathetically converted and retains many original features with natural stone walls, exposed beamed ceilings and high quality furnishings. A character property with a spacious interior. Nestled within glorious countryside in the delightful hamlet of Quoditch near Ashwater in Devon, this delightful cottage is the ideal choice to unwind and recharge your batteries. All on one level, the light and airy open plan living area has a well-equipped kitchen and sofas surrounding a cosy wood burner. Outside, there is an enclosed patio area, complete with garden seating to enjoy a lazy breakfast while you plan your day. Ashwater has a really good pub and for those wishing to explore, Meadowside Forge could not be more centrally located for visiting the Eden Project one day and Bude or Widemouth Bay the next.
Just 17 miles from the breathtaking North Cornish coast and many dog friendly beaches, with excellent surfing, pretty coves and dramatic coastal walks along with shopping, leisure facilities, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Holsworthy, 8 miles, has a good selection of local shops and supermarkets along with a weekly market. The market town of Okehampton and Launceston with its historic castle are a short drive away. Coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, fishing, horse riding and cycling are all on offer close by and Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature lovers. The property is close to the water sports centre at Roadford Lake, where sailing dinghies, kayaks and wind-surfers can be hired. Beach 17 miles. Shop 8 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

From the first communication Tash and Mikey made us feel welcome and well taken care of. Meadowside forge is a hidden gem of a property, a true blissful escape from the huddle and bustle of everyday life, whilst maintaining everyday comforts that truly make it a home from home. Walking through the door to such a thoughtful hamper, not only for us humans, but also for my mums four legged baby! The forge was immaculately clean, and easily the most equipped kitchen we have ever had, Tash has thought of everything. From sewing kits, to torches, spare batteries to dishwasher and washing tablets, a basket filled with children’s activities to keep little hands and minds busy. Everything is of the highest quality and you can see the love and care they have put into every aspect of furnishing and decorating this property. Super comfortable beds, stunning enclosed garden and a true 10/10 shower! Meadowside forge is beautifully located to explore both Devon and Cornwall. We visited the beautiful Lanhydrock national trust, Port Isaac, Padstow, Oakhampton, and St Wenn. We absolutely cannot wait to return again and again. Meadowside forge is a fabulous cottage in a location that's so quite and tranquil we didnt want to leave, the cottage is well equipped and very clean, we had a fabulous welcome basket for not just us but our dog too. The little garden at the back is very relaxing, private and can be quite a sun trap 😎. The local village shop had pretty much anything you need if you don't want to travel to a town, but most places are only a 30/45 min drive away. This is somewhere we would definitely stay again 😊 Thank you to our wonderful hosts who have thought of everything.
