Sitting at the heart of the stunning Jacobean 2* listed Jerards Estate, Jerards Dairy for eight guests and separate Jerards Stables for four guests have recently undergone a complete and luxurious refurbishment. Which provides extraordinary accommodation with style, comfort and impeccable decor and furnishings throughout. Both properties are ideal for larger families and groups of up to twelve guests and sit just yards apart.
Situated in the rolling green hills of the Dorset and Somerset border and close to the popular town of Sherborne, take a step back in time as you arrive at the tiny Cotswoldesque Elizabethan hamlet of Jerards, home to the historic Jerards Dairy and Jerards Stables. These two separate, exceptional and spellbinding properties have been meticulously refurbished to provide impeccably styled holiday accommodation that exudes elegance and luxury throughout; they offer a plethora of exposed beams and original character features.
Jerards Dairy for eight guests
As you enter via the covered stone porch, you will find a charming utility and boot room that leads you through to the double-aspect family kitchen, with its marble counter tops and electric Everhot range taking pride of place. A cosy breakfast area provides the perfect spot for your morning coffee and a glazed door leads out to the elevated terrace, affording views across the Estate. As you step into the dining room with its large table and chairs for twelve guests, the truly impressive space will delight, being adorned with antique and designer furniture with a cosy sitting area, which beautifully frames an enormous original stone inglenook fireplace with a large wood burning stove. To the side your journey continues to the sumptuous family sitting and television room, an ideal relaxing retreat for the family at the end of the day. A beautiful cloakroom also sits next to the staircase on the ground floor.
On the first floor you will find the first of four exceptional bedrooms, which include a principal suite with a generous bedroom, a dressing room and study, and a large en-suite rain shower room with free-standing bath and double vanity unit. The second large bedroom on the first floor also has an en-suite rain shower room and offers one of the three over-sized 6' 8" wide Emperor beds at the property, the ultimate in luxury. On the second floor the final two bedrooms include an stunningly decorated twin bedroom with large 3' 4" wide beds and the remaining Emperor bedroom with its indulgent free-standing bath. A further family shower room sits between the bedrooms on the second floor, and completes the picture at this extraordinary holiday home.
Jerards Stables for four guests
The first-floor accommodation sits above the actual stables which are still in use (don’t worry - the horses don’t snore!). Set within the stunning C. 16th thatched stable block and cobbled courtyard, the property retains many of its period features with open beams, timber panelling and cosy window seats, whilst offering the mod-cons and underfloor heating you’d only expect in a new-build.
Enter this cosy retreat via the hamstone staircase and the spacious, beautifully decorated open plan sitting and dining room with its high vaulted ceilings, artwork and interior designed furnishings immediately urges you to put your feet up. Sumptuous sofas and window seats invite you to unwind and enjoy the absolute peace and quiet, whilst the generous dining table is the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Your eyes will be drawn towards incredible views into the walled garden and towards the honey stoned manor house. The well-equipped kitchen provides everything necessary for preparing and cooking delicious feasts, whilst a separate utility and laundry room offers additional storage and prep space, with ample room for dog beds.
Both bedrooms are along the short corridor, with the master bedroom featuring a super-king size bed and double aspect windows, cosy window seats, with plenty of built-in storage. A stylish en-suite bathroom with free-standing claw footed bath, is your reward after long walks in the stunning countryside. The second bedroom has comfortable twin beds, which can also be configured to provide a second super-king size bedroom upon request. Opposite is the well-appointed family bathroom with a spacious walk-in rain shower.
When staying at Jerards, dogs are very welcome and guests are free to enjoy the 50-acre estate along with all its animals, together with an abundance of countryside walks nearby and on the adjoining ridges, offering spectacular views in every direction. The private terrace invites guests to relax, or for those feeling more energetic, a newly resurfaced tennis court awaits, across a cobbled courtyard. Nearby are numerous quiet villages to explore and great pubs within easy reach, with the local Mitre Inn just a 5 min walk down the bottom drive. An abundance of cafés, pubs, restaurants and shops await four miles away in Sherborne, along with its incredible Abbey, arts centre and two historic castles. Just 10 miles away you’ll find the renowned Newt Hotel and Bruton’s bustling boho yet authentic culinary and arts scene. Or for more family fun, within easy distance you can explore the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Haynes Motor Museum or head towards the beaches between Abbotsbury and Lyme Regis.
