Wareham, affectionately known as the ‘Gateway to the Purbecks’ is an ancient Dorset waterside market town. Situated between the River Frome and quaintly named River Piddle, its charming riverside location makes the town a popular holiday destination. Dating back to Saxon times, the town was once surrounded by walls, and became an important port with boats bringing supplies up the River Frome from nearby Poole harbour.
