The village of Minterne Magna is renowned for the grand Minterne House and Gardens, and this property, sitting within an idyllic walled garden, forms part of the Minterne Estate. Home to notable figures such as Sir Winston Churchill and Admiral Robert Digby, Minterne House is steeped in history, containing original Churchill tapestries and furniture alongside naval memorabilia. The gardens are home to an important collection of Himalayan rhododendrons and azaleas, alongside which snowdrops, daffodils, bluebells and hydrangeas add additional waves of colour. You can arrange a tour of the house by prior request and enjoy the gardens for free during your stay. Events are held on the estate throughout the year, so be sure to check what’s on. Not far from the estate, you can visit the famous hillside giant in the nearby village of Cerne Abbas (2 miles). It’s also worth taking trips to Dorchester and Sherborne, which are both within 10 miles.

A private entrance gives access to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This characterful room has a fireplace fitted with a wood burner, Smart TV, DVD player, Record player, radio and Amazon Alexa, a lovely space to relax and to dine just opposite. The kitchen is set to the right of the room and has a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Just next door is a wet room with a shower and WC. Winding cottage-style stairs rise to the first floor and a mezzanine style bedroom which is set into the eaves. This spacious room has a super-king-size bed and lovely views, making it a wonderful space for two.

Heading outside you will find a terrace, coal BBQ (coal fully stocked for your stay) with furniture and privacy screening. Beyond this, there is a shared walled garden with a lawn tennis court and a heated outdoor pool with a changing room. The pool is open from April to September. Guests staying at The Pool House are invited to enjoy the pool throughout their stay. Exclusive private swimming hours for Pool House guests are available 4pm to 6pm, allowing other lettings to use the area during the day. For your convenience, all necessary pool towels are provided, so there’s no need to pack them in your suitcase There is ample off-road parking, within a shared yard approx. 20m from the property.
