Mill House is a characterful property with a spacious kitchen and garden, situated in a beautiful location. Guests appreciate its potential for large groups and its proximity to local attractions. The house's charm and the village's amenities are noted positives.
Cleanliness is a recurring concern among guests, with multiple mentions of dirt, grime, and poor maintenance. Reports of mouldy food remnants, dirty crockery, and unemptied bins suggest a need for more thorough cleaning.
The location is consistently praised for its beauty and convenience for exploring West Dorset and the Jurassic Coast. The village of Maiden Newton is well-regarded for its situation and local facilities.
Comfort receives mixed reviews. While some guests found the property cosy once heated, others struggled with ineffective heating and concerns about the temperature. Bedding cleanliness and mattress quality were also points of discomfort for some.
Facilities and maintenance issues are highlighted, including broken appliances, inadequate heating, and issues with showers. The presence of a pool table and garden are positives, but the overall maintenance of the house detracts from the experience.

Guests will feel right at home in the property, and won’t have to go too far to relax after an enjoyable but busy day, in fact you’ll be spoilt for choice on where to unwind. On entering the house, guests will find the sitting area complete with open fire and comfortable seating. While directly opposite is the snug, which also boasts a fire place and more seating. The large kitchen/diner makes meal preparation and dining a piece of cake, with easy access to the amenities, and plenty of seating to ensure a great family meal. Younger members of the group won’t struggle to be entertained, with the first floor also possessing a games room that includes a pool table. The final room on the ground floor is a bathroom. Located on the house’s top two floors are the property’s stylish bedrooms, there are six in total with three on both the first and second floors. Elsewhere on the first floor, they’ll be no fighting for the shower as there are two bathrooms. Both the sitting area and snug have doors which lead out on to the large enclosed garden with patio an bbq area. This area is enclosed and is adjacent to picturesque stream that feeds into the Mill, making it a great place to get away from it all with a nice drink or good book. Off-road parking for three cars is available, while pets are also welcome. Mill House is situated in a great location, and just a short walk away is the Jurassic Coast and entrance to the village centre, where guests will find shops and pubs to suit all tastes. And with much to see and do around the area, combined with the property’s stylish French interior and surroundings, Mill House is the ideal destination for your family’s holiday in this lovely part of Dorset.
