Believed to be one of the oldest houses in the centre of Lyme Regis in Dorset, Old Monmouth is a property literally bursting with charm and character. The perfect holiday destination for large families or groups of friends, Old Monmouth offers guests a beautiful environment with a wealth of original features all within walking distance of the amenities of Lyme Regis. There are a number of delightful reception rooms giving guests the ultimate in flexibility so they can choose from the fantastic sitting room with its extensive seating and feature fireplace or the warm and welcoming drawing room complete with woodburning stove.

Both rooms offer a relaxing sanctuary to guests and are a great space to gather and socialise together. The vast, fully fitted kitchen is fully fitted with everything needed to whip up some fabulous cuisine for your holiday party with a gorgeous rustic dining table forming a real focal point to the room and somewhere you can imagine spending many happy hours eating, drinking and sharing holiday stories. There is no shortage of bedrooms at Old Monmouth and no matter what combination of guests there are in your party there will be a bedroom to suit. Choose from two doubles, three king-sizes (all en-suite) or a twin.

All are stylishly presented and boast a wealth of traditional features making them really inviting spaces in which to relax and get into the holiday ambience. Old Monmouth is a delightful place to wake up in the morning and after a refreshing shower or bath, you’re ready to hit the sights of Lyme Regis which are literally on the doorstep. From a great selection of shops, galleries and boutiques, to bars, cafes, tearoom and restaurants, Lyme Regis has it all as well as beaches, a harbour and causeway and a museum and aquarium. Jump in the car for a scenic trip to places such as Charmouth with its excellent beaches and Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, Beer with its quaint collection of shops and infamous caves and Seaton famous for its tramway.

You can’t beat a family hike for blowing the cobwebs away so lace up your walking boots and head out onto the 630 mile long South West Coastal Trail and you’ll be rewarded by some breath-taking views along the way. A stay at Old Monmouth promises to be truly memorable.

The delightful seaside town of Lyme Regis has much to offer its visitors, boasting a maze of narrow streets filled with craft and antique shops, galleries and cafes. Take a stroll along the world-famous Cobb causeway overlooking the ancient harbour, where fishing trips can be enjoyed, or try your hand at fossil hunting in the area. The scenic coastal path offers excellent walking opportunities and spectacular views of the stunning Jurassic coast, whilst the gently shelving sands and sparkling waters of Lyme Bay provide the perfect place in which to relax and unwind.     Absolutely perfect for our party of thirteen.

    Only problem was that someone had put their rubbish straight into the bins without using the plastic bags, then we had to take the rubbish out and put it into the correct bags to be taken away. Otherwise everything was good and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay (if only you could have organised better weather for the Lyme Lunge
