This stunning barn conversion sits amidst glorious rolling countryside with views across the surrounding fields in every direction, and it is truly a rural retreat in every sense. Blagdon Lower Barn is totally secluded and is accessed via a long private drive from the road that leads up from the nearby village of Martinstown to the famous landmark Hardy Monument, and your neighbours will likely be the local deer, boxing hares, or a fox or two.
The accommodation includes a sociable open-plan kitchen/dining and living area with a beautiful high brick arch as one of the original features, and the dining area sitting centre stage offering panoramic views. The well-appointed kitchen has granite work surfaces, two integrated electric ovens, a microwave, a dishwasher, and an American style fridge/freezer with integrated ice maker. The sitting room enjoys a wood burning stove and invites you to relax after a day of exploring this special part of Dorset, and there is television and DVD player for entertainment. A useful utility and cloakroom complete the ground floor accommodation.
On the first floor you will find the three delightful bedrooms which all offer flexible bed arrangements as 6’ super-king size zip and link beds, which can be configured as single beds upon request. Two of the bedrooms have an en-suite shower room, and there is also a family bathroom for added convenience.
Outside you will find the large patio area which is perfect for enjoying alfresco meals together whilst appreciating the exceptional setting.
With such beautiful countryside to explore right on your doorstep, you might not want to venture too far during your stay. However, if you’d like to stretch your legs, you’ll find numerous beautiful walks in every direction, with a particular gem being the walk up to National Trust owned Hardy Monument from where you can climb the tower on open days, and admire stunning views which reach across the landscape and out to sea. If you decide to venture further afield, you are just a short drive away from Chesil Beach and the Jurassic Coast, and the county town of Dorchester is just a 10-minute drive away.

What an amazing place! If you love wildlife this is the place for you, just remember your binoculars. There are plenty of walks close by so you donât need to even get in the car. Itâs everything thatâs shown in the photos, the kitchen is the best equipped weâve been to and the welcome basket was lovely. We will definitely be going back.

Third time here. To be surrounded by nature with large flocks of birds, herds of deer and hares is a privilege in an excellent and well equipped cottage. highly recommend
