Hay Barn Cottage is a beautiful cottage, on the grounds of the owner's farm in the Cotswolds AONB, in a breath-taking spot, surrounded by open fields and woodland, offering fantastic views across the valley to the surrounding hills and the village of Witcombe below, while being within a 10-minute drive to Cheltenham a 15-minute drive of Painswick. On a clear day you can even see the Welsh Mountains to the west. The cottage is well over 200 years old and is steeped in history, with many of the old features still on display, like stone walls and oak beams, giving the house a truly unique and charming feel. Enter the property to find a well-equipped kitchen, complete with all the appliances you need to create delicious home-cooked meals, which can be enjoyed at the breakfast bar or at the dining table. Delicious homemade meals can be pre ordered for delivery to your fridge/freezer from a local catering friend of the owner, and catered dinner parties available by arrangement to help mark those special occasions. Please request information from the owner. Once dinner is over, relax on one of the sofas in the sitting room, while enjoying a book from the bookcase or your favourite shows on the TV. When it's time to get some sleep, head upstairs to find three bright and spacious bedrooms, each with Velux windows showcasing lovely countryside views, character wooden beams and ample storage space for your belongings. Choose from a king-size double, which can be transformed into a twin on request, a stunning four-poster double with handy en-suite basin and WC, and a twin, served by the family bathroom, which offers a bath and handheld shower, while downstairs there is a shower room, for added convenience. Outside there is a private patio garden with furniture and a barbecue, perfect for taking advantage of the good weather and dining alfresco, while the adjacent fields offer peace and quiet as well as the chance to discover local wildlife. The Farm is situated adjacent to the Great Witcombe Park Roman Villa, thought to have been built in 250 BC, as well as a reservoir, where you can enjoy some fishing or a pretty stroll beside the water. The picturesque town of Painswick offers the historic Rococo Garden, with a maze, vegetable patch and a café, as well as a golf course and a selection of shops and eateries. The Cotswolds offers many picturesque walking and cycling routes, discovering honeypot villages of thatched roof cottages, rolling countryside, lush meadows, stunning woodlands and famous ancient sites; The Cotswold Way National Trail is situated straight off the farm, offering 102 miles of walking routes to explore between the market town of Chipping Campden to the Roman city of Bath, including a number of circular routes within the adjoining Cranham, Coopers, Buckholt and Beech Woods, These woods provide a paradise for children and dogs as well as keen walkers with rich habitats, safe environments and beautiful scenery.
Within a very short drive of the property you will find Crickley Hill Country Park, the Forest of Dean with a multitude of activities (GoApe, Bike adventures, Sculpture Trail), Coopers Hill Nature Reserve and Reservoir, Prinknash Abbey Park, Painswick Beacon and the Iron Age Hill Fort. Within Cheltenham there are regular festivals and racing throughout the annual calendar in addition to extensive shopping and entertainment. The Flyup 17 Bike Park is within a mile if you need to let off some steam. Hay Barn Cottage is an ideal property for outdoor lovers wanting to explore magnificent Cotswolds countryside.
Coopers Hill, Gloucestershire is a short drive away from Brockworth. Resting in the suburbs of the remarkable city of Gloucester, Brockworth is a superb holiday base. The village enjoys a perfect situation between the city and the countryside of the Cotswolds aonb. The village is perhaps most famed for the annual Cheese-Rolling event that takes place on Cooper's Hill on the outskirts. Nearby Gloucester showcases a number of examples of stunning architecture, most of all its enchanting cathedral. Also find museums and monuments teaching of the area's history. Restaurants, shops and pubs are aplenty in this superb city.
