Guests say

The Clock House is a charming and spacious cottage in a picturesque Cotswold village, praised for its comfortable interiors, well-equipped kitchen, and lovely garden. Guests appreciate the friendly and helpful host, as well as the excellent location for exploring local walks and nearby towns. While some mention minor maintenance issues and tricky parking, the overall experience is positive, with many guests highlighting the cottage’s character, cleanliness, and suitability for families and dog owners.

Most guests found the property clean and well-presented, with several describing it as spotless or extremely clean. However, a few reviews noted areas needing a deeper clean, dusting, or attention to cobwebs, and occasional comments about musty smells or animal waste in the garden.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful village setting, proximity to walks, and easy access to Stroud, Cirencester, and other Cotswold attractions. Some guests mention the road outside can be busy and parking can be challenging, but overall the setting is considered a major asset.

Guests frequently mention the cottage’s comfort, with cosy lounges, comfortable beds (especially the master suite), and a pleasant garden. A few reviews note issues with mattresses in some rooms and steep stairs, which may be challenging for the elderly or young children.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, with a good kitchen, enclosed garden, and two lounges. Some guests mention minor maintenance issues such as broken bulbs, WiFi coverage, shower repairs, and the need for more kitchenware or garden tidying. Facilities are appreciated but could benefit from more attention to detail.

The host is widely described as friendly, welcoming, and helpful, often providing local tips and assistance. Some guests mention the absence of a welcome pack or basic amenities, and while gifts or extras may be provided, these are not guaranteed.

We were excited to be going to The Clock House for my 60th birthday celebration. I spoke to Annabel before we arrived and she told us there would be no welcome pack on arrival as she was in hospital. So we had no milk or bread etc which was disappointing. We arrived with my daughter her partner and their dog. We tried to close the electric gates to keep the dog in but they didn't work. I contacted Annabel who met me and said the batteries must have run out on the fob. She said she'd replace them (which she didn't). It was obvious the gates haven't worked for a while by the amount of weeds growing around the gates. The shower in the main bathroom leaks onto the floor in the bathroom and through the ceiling into the kitchen. In the end we couldn't use the shower. The kitchen is very dark due to the overgrown plants outside covering the kitchen window. Overall the garden is overgrown and it's difficult to pull out of the driveway due to this. The house needs a good deep clean.

We had a wonderful holiday staying here. The cottage is beautiful, and a pleasure to be in. The garden is lovely and was very handy as the weather was very hot when we stayed there. The village is quaint and nice to walk around. We ate one night at The Bear pub, the food was great - large portions and if you need gluten free then there was a good choice of meals. The cottage was perfectly located for exploring Gloucestershire. Nearby Stroud is a very interesting town to explore, the farmer's market had lots of delicious goodies to try (again if you need gluten free there was an excellent stall selling baked goods). Cirencester is well worth a day to explore and the pretty Cotswold villages mean every journey was a joy. Annabel the owner was really helpful and responded to any of our queries very quickly. We would all happily stay here again.

Property not as advertised. The house really required a deep clean. The garden was overgrown and furniture not as in the photographs. There was no welcome pack when we arrived as described in the brochure. The village shop closed a year ago and we just managed to purchase a few essentials from the farm shop before it closed. Having said that the house was well equipped with the essentials. Also the location was good for visiting areas of the Cotswolds.
