Head here to stroll along the sand, enjoy afternoon tea or take a trip on a heritage steam train along the West Somerset Railway. Minehead, with its shops, eateries, water park and flat sandy beach, is also very popular with families. Keen walkers might like to lace up their boots and follow a stretch of the South West Coast Path or plunge into the magnificent Exmoor National Park. Find a range of trails to follow here and look out for roaming ponies as you explore. Climb Dunkery Beacon, 10.5 miles away, for panoramic vistas out towards the Bristol Channel, South Wales and Dartmoor. Make a day trip to bustling Taunton, 20 miles away.

Follow the garden path up three shallow stone steps, then take two more steps up to enter the delightful retreat via its porch and small hallway. Kick off your shoes before ambling on through to the lounge, where you will get a true sense of the charm of this period retreat. With its beamed ceiling and exposed stone wall, this is a cosy, welcoming space. Lay a fire in the wood burner and take a seat on one of the elegant green sofas. Peruse the channels of the Smart TV and discuss where you intend to head off to the following day. The kitchen/diner flows easily on from the lounge and encompasses everything you might require to assist you in your self-catering. In addition to the main fitted kitchen, there is a handy cupboard with a fridge/freezer. Prepare your delicious Somerset meals, then sit down to dine together at the table. Also downstairs is a convenient WC. Climb the carpeted stairs to your cottage-style bedrooms, both of which have a recuperative, calm ambience. One of these is a king-size and the other is a twin. The family shower room is also upstairs.

Unwind out in the sunshine and fresh air of the enclosed, lawned garden as often as you have the opportunity. Dine on the patio or picnic on the lawn. There is private, off-road parking here for two cars.
