Guests say

The Coach House offers a peaceful and cosy retreat in a beautiful rural setting, with welcoming hosts and a secure garden ideal for families and dogs. Guests consistently praise the cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, and tranquil atmosphere, with many enjoying the farm animals and countryside views. The property is a short drive from Chippenham and local attractions, making it a great base for exploring. Occasional minor issues such as flat pillows, flies due to nearby horses, and rural road conditions are mentioned, but overall, guests report a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as clean and well-maintained, with no significant complaints about cleanliness. Only one mention of flies due to the proximity of horses, but this is attributed to the rural setting rather than the property itself.

The rural, peaceful location is frequently praised, with guests enjoying the quiet and countryside views. The property is described as central for exploring local attractions, though some note the approach roads can be rough and it is a drive to amenities.

Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with warm showers and good beds. There are minor mentions of flat pillows and a slightly uncomfortable bed, but overall comfort is rated highly.

The cottage is described as well-equipped, with a secure garden, good kitchen facilities, and thoughtful extras like books and games. A few minor maintenance issues are noted, such as a loose curtain pole, but these do not detract significantly from the overall experience.

Many guests mention a warm welcome from the hosts and the provision of a welcome pack or treats, which are appreciated but not guaranteed for all stays. Hosts are described as friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

Both The Coach House (ref 15661) and Hog Pits (ref 18961) also maintaining many origginal features, are all on one level and have a cosy wood burner. There are many footpaths and cycle routes in the surrounding area, with the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal towpaths also nearby. Within a short drive are the picturesque villages of Lacock and Castle Combe, both favourite locations for TV and film directors. Lacock features in Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice, and Castle Combe was the backdrop for War Horse.

The Roman spa city of Bath itself is a short drive and a must-visit for a day out, with many famous sights to explore such as the museums, the abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Roman baths to name but a few. Bowood House has magnificent gardens and an adventure playground, and the famous ancient sites and stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury are well worth a visit. Really nice and quiet place. We loved to be there. Enjoyed our holiday very much.

Very quiet and rural, no traffic noise. Friendly chicken pays a daily visit, although prone to leaving a deposit! Reasonably easy to find, and not more than 10 mins to get to central Chippenham.Cottage was clean, with all amenities available. Owner a pleasure to deal with. Only problem we had was lots of flies, due to horses being nearby, otherwise a relaxing break for us.
