About this property

Sitting in the heart of Malmesbury, Wiltshire is this idyllic, single-storey holiday home of Orchard House Cottage. A delightful base for two couples or a family of four's break in the Cotswolds, Orchard House Cottage rests on the same site as a handy cattery, so you can bring along your feline friends, as well as being home to chickens and ducks for you to visit. After parking up in one of the off-road spots, progress inside to find a well-presented kitchen/diner, where a range of quality appliances await, so the chef of the group can easily rustle up home-cooked delights, to be enjoyed at the four-seater dining table. After dining together, progress to the sitting room and sink back into the sumptuous sofa or armchair whilst the TV entertains you and the woodburning stove warms you up. When sleep calls, retire to one of the two delightful bedrooms, a double and a twin, both of which feature zip/linked beds, along with handy storage space and contemporary décor throughout. The family bathroom rests nearby and hosts a p-shaped bath for you to relax your muscles after hiking through the nearby Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Make the most of the fabulous site and wander down to the charming chickens, embark on a stroll through the idyllic lawns during the day, or settle down in front of the flickering flames of the fire pit as you marvel at the stars above. Get acquainted with your surroundings by visiting the Radnor Arms across the road, and there is a bus stop there to take you directly into Malmesbury, where the delights of The Smoking Dog and The Kings Arms serve up hearty meals, the River Avon and Tetbury Avon offer riverside strolls and The Abbey House Garden offers tours of its stunning gardens. Why not visit Bowood House, or travel to Westonbirt, home to the iconic Westonbirt Arboretum, where a plethora of walking trails amidst the stunning scenery along with an esteemed golf course can be found? Venture to the market town of Chippenham to find more outdoor delights, including Vincients Wood and John Coles Park, along with the historic Chippenham Museum. The thriving spots of Tetbury, Cirencester and Bath are within reach and offer even more attractions to experience. Choose Orchard House Cottage for a holiday to look back on in years to come.

The picturesque market town of Malmesbury, nestled on a hill in the southern Cotswolds, dates back to the Iron Age and is said to be the oldest borough in England. Abbey House Gardens, home to 'The Naked Gardeners,' is situated in Malmesbury (Note: The gardeners are dressed during normal opening hours), and the annual Womad Music Festival is held nearby in Charlton Park. An annual carnival, and numerous independent shops, cafés, and traditional pubs can also be found here.

Our collie particularly enjoyed the large paddock area where he could play ball. The cottage is immaculately clean and every facility has been catered for down to dog treats and bowls with a lovely welcome pack for us, The hosts are friendly and extremely generous with their fresh hen and duck eggs which are the best we have ever eaten. We struggled to find dog walks without getting in the car but we had some lovely walks on our trips out. Malmesbury is a nice town with an Aldi and Waitrose for supplies and some independent shops. Thank to Debbie and Tim. You are great hosts.

Everything we needed was already provided (even the dog was catered for) and the space was fantastic for us and our furry companion. Would highly recommend to anyone who wanted a break from daily life. I left feeling rested and that my dog enjoyed her mini break exploring a wonderful outdoor space.
