Guests say

The Methodist Chapel offers a unique and spacious stay in a charming Wiltshire village, ideal for families and groups. Guests consistently praise the large games room, well-equipped kitchen, and proximity to local amenities and attractions. The property is described as warm, quirky, and homely, with responsive and helpful hosts. While some mention minor cleanliness and maintenance issues, and note the lack of a second bathroom and limited outdoor space, the overall experience is highly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Most guests found the property acceptably clean, but several reviews mention areas needing improvement, such as sticky surfaces, dusty areas, and the need for a deeper clean in the kitchen and bathrooms. These issues were generally minor and did not detract significantly from guests' enjoyment.

The location is highly praised for its peaceful village setting, proximity to the New Forest, Salisbury, and local amenities such as shops, pubs, and recreational facilities. Guests found it an excellent base for exploring the area.

Guests frequently mention the spaciousness, warmth, and comfortable beds. The property is well-suited for large groups, though some note the bedrooms are basic and storage is limited. The lack of a second bathroom is a minor drawback for larger parties.

The games room, kitchen, and communal spaces are standout features, with snooker, table tennis, and plenty of entertainment options. Some maintenance issues are noted (e.g., shower temperature, microwave, furniture), but these are outweighed by the extensive facilities provided.

Several guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as milk and bread on arrival, and the host's helpfulness and prompt communication. However, as these gestures are not guaranteed for every stay, future guests should not expect them as standard.

About this property

Tucked away in the attractive South Wiltshire village of Whiteparish is this former Wesleyan chapel, which dates back to 1859 and is now a beautifully converted holiday cottage. The light and airy interior of this detached Whiteparish holiday cottage offers families or groups of friends a very different, yet comfortable holiday experience. The spacious open plan living area containing a kitchen, dining area and sitting area of this Whiteparish holiday cottage was created from the 1903 memorial school, retaining its wooden floors and row of children's coat pegs, whilst the body of the chapel features the original pulpit and combines not only a further sitting area but also offers a full size snooker table, table tennis, table football, keyboard and piano!

A great social space for all the family to enjoy! Outside, there is a small rear patio area. Conveniently situated, this Whiteparish cottage is just a short stroll from the well-stocked local shop, Post Office and friendly village pub, ideal for taking refreshment after your busy day exploring. there is only one loo which when flushed sounded like the Q,E 2 was coming in so don’t flush at night. Towels were provided these were a mismatched bundle in the utility room. The shower room was very dim and would be beneficial with some hooks on the door so you can hang clothes instead of putting on the floor. The whole place did need a good clean and declutter as it felt like a dumping ground with parcels in the door way , ladders stacked up paint tins in the cupboard. The snooker table was a huge hit and a big plus the table tennis table we couldn’t use as it was blocked in by sofas and it also leant down on one corner. The photos were obviously taken ages ago as the front is now very over grown and the layout in the snooker room has changed. Tennis rackets and balls were supplied and there is a public tennis court round the corner which we used so that was good . None of the windows opened downstairs (or we couldn’t get them open) so very hot with so many windows in the main room. we did have front door and back door open to get any breeze there was , fans were also supplied at the house. The location was good and easy driving for a lot in the area.

Good for families -snooker table a big bit with our boys. Problems with Wi-Fi first evening but the owner sorted this quickly

Staying during the last part of the heatwave, it was great to see that there were plenty of big fans to take advantage of! There was every amenity that you needed in the kitchen and bathrooms and we loved the games room with quite a few snooker games enjoyed whilst one of the kids entertained us on the piano. The village was also lovely with great walks for the dog and two good pubs to choose from for dinner. We'll definitely be back for another stay here!
