The Cart Lodge receives high praise for its peaceful rural setting, friendly and attentive hosts, and well-equipped, clean accommodation. Guests particularly enjoy the hot tub, access to farm grounds, and the opportunity to spot local wildlife. The property is dog-friendly and offers a relaxing retreat, with many visitors keen to return. While a few minor issues were noted, such as heating and accessibility for wheelchair users, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it an excellent choice for a tranquil countryside getaway.

Multiple reviews highlight the property as very clean and well-maintained, with only one minor mention of maintenance issues. The overall impression is of a spotless and tidy cottage.

Guests consistently praise the secluded, peaceful rural location, ideal for relaxation and wildlife watching, with good access to Suffolk attractions. The tranquil setting is a standout feature.

The lodge is described as cosy, comfortable, and warm, with particular mention of comfortable beds and underfloor heating. Some accessibility concerns for wheelchair users and a comment about thick duvets were noted, but most guests found it very comfortable.

Facilities such as the hot tub, garden, and well-equipped kitchen are frequently praised. Minor issues included TV/DVD not working, underfloor heating inconsistencies, and some accessibility limitations, but overall facilities are highly rated.

Hosts Richard and Tracey are repeatedly described as friendly, helpful, and attentive, often checking in with guests. Fresh eggs were provided to some guests, but please note that such gifts are not guaranteed.

No visit to Suffolk is complete without visiting the stunning Suffolk coast. A trip to the traditional town of Southwold, home to a famous brewery, is the perfect way to spend a day with its independent shops and restaurants. Close by is Aldeburgh where you will find the famous fish and chip shop. Get there early as it is very popular. Just a little further on is the small village of Thorpeness which is dominated by the Mere. It is popular all year round and bears witness to the village’s fantastical past. In 1910 Stuart Ogilvie bought the hamlet and set to transform it into a private fantasy holiday village. Today the village is just how Ogilvie envisaged it with pretty, mock Tudor houses. You can hire boats and take a trip round the picturesque six-thousand-acre Mere to see the islands and inlets, all named by J M Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, and where you will see statues of Wendy and Peter Pan. There is a regatta on the Mere every August which culminates in a torch lit parade of boats and fireworks.

There are many activities nearby including golf, horse riding, tennis courts, water sports, cycling and hiking.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The accommodation had everything we needed, and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. Richard and Tracey were incredibly friendly and kept a check on us throughout our stay - they truly couldn’t do enough to help. Freshly laid eggs were a delicious treat from the chickens. Fantastic hosts and a perfect getaway.

A comfortable and clean cottage in a truly rural location. This was our second stay and we hope to come again. The garden is now enclosed and there is a large field for off lead runs for our greyhound.I have limited mobility and use a walking aid, and I found the cottage easy to navigate. It is in̈ a great location with many attractions within a short drive.
