Spend a day at RSPB Minsmere (8 miles), where you can follow the wetland trails and look out for bitterns, marsh harriers and otters from the hides. Alternatively, head to Dunwich (7.5 miles), once a thriving medieval port that has slowly been claimed by the sea, and take a bracing stroll along the beach. Further afield, make a beeline for Aldeburgh (16 miles) to admire the Tudor Moot Hall and tuck into fish and chips on the seafront.
