The coastal cliff path is 2 minutes from the house and Gunton Beach about a 5-minute walk. Directly opposite is Belle Vue Park, accessible by the Victorian Iron Bridge, and below is Sparrows Nest Gardens. Both are great areas for children to play or to walk dogs. The park includes The Peace Garden, a memorial for the World Wars and the working Lowestoft Lighthouse.
Lowestoft town includes the Harbour and South Pier and further along is Pakefield Beach, a popular spot for fishing and a site of special geological interest. The local buses stop at the end of North Parade Road and Lowestoft Railway Station is nearby which connects to Norwich and onwards.
It is a short drive to Oulton Broad, the southern gateway to the Norfolk Broads. Oulton Broad is perfect for sailing, rowing and windsurfing. Rookery Park Golf Club is a 10-minute drive, with several other golf courses nearby. Other places to visit include Africa Alive and Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park. Great Yarmouth is only 20 minutess by car and offers a long sandy beach, horse racing and a seaside experience.

Casa Carlotte is quite a nice property, but it was marketed as dog-friendly, which it certainly was not. Please do not take your dog there as you will find it difficult, and it will be cruel to your dog. As soon as we arrived we read the information book, which prohibited our dog from going anywhere inside apart from the kitchen, the downstairs (tiny) kitchen and outside. So she could not spend time in the house with the family and she could not be heard at night unless someone slept on the floor with her (which my daughter had to do sometimes!!). Much of the crockery and cookware needed to be washed before we could use it. In particular the two cafetieres which were absolutely disgusting. After having cleaned these things they were usable and we managed to cater for thirteen people for a week with the provided kitchenware. It would have been helpful to have had more large glasses, especially as the weather was really hot whilst we were staying.So, summing up, Casa Carlotte was fairly good for people and it was quite good value, but DO NOT take your dog there.

Spent 4 days over a July weekend with family: 8 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 children and a small dog. The property easily accommodated us and is well equipped and comfortable. Ideally located in a quiet area and close to amenities. Had a wonderful meal at the Lowestoft Tandoori just a short walk away. Dogs are restricted to the kitchen area and hallway, plus the advertised welcome pack was disappointing, just coffee and tea with insufficient coffee for 12. The milk was off. The patio is small and needed to be cleaned before we could use it. The adjacent shared field is a great boon for families with children. There s plenty of on road parking as well as one private. I would recommend the house as a good comfortable base to explore the area.

Wonderful house for 8 of us, everyone had their own rooms. Large period house Dining room has a 12 seater table which was great for the night we ate in. Short walk to Giardinos for dinner also. Very near the sea for coastal walks
