A.E. Houseman's poem, A Shropshire Lad, defined Clun as 'the quietest place under the sun', and with its dramatic ruin of a Norman castle, Saxon church, the bustling river which flows under the 14th century pack horse bridge, and a country inn, Clun is a rural gem situated in the South Shropshire Hills. It lies on the Shropshire Way in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close to the border of Wales, an area known as The Marches. This unspoilt part of Britain has an abundance of wildlife and beautiful unhindered walking and cycling routes winding their way through the countryside with the Clun and Kerry Forests, Offa's Dyke, and Kerry Ridgeway all close by. There are a wide range of festivals and shows on offer in the surrounding area throughout the year, including The Green Man festival in May. We arrived to a warm and clean home, with everything we needed for a relaxing weekend break. There was a bottle of Wine and Welsh cakes waiting for us, along with tea, coffee and sugar. It's really helpful having things like cleaning supplies, toilet roll and foil in the cupboards. We always bring our own as most home don't supply them, and always comment on the homes that do-these little extra touches don't go unnoticed. Our two dogs enjoyed exploring the grounds, which were fenced off so they couldn't get out-they even have dog bowls and a cleaning area for pets. Every little thing is thought of and catered for. We gave 5* and top scores in all areas, for a perfect stay in a beautiful area. Thank you Steve and Louise for making our weekend break so easy! Your hard work and attention to detail shows in the beautiful, inviting home you keep. Sarah, Russ and the pooches Cobi and Buckley.
