The Byre is a cosy, well-equipped cottage in a peaceful rural setting, ideal for exploring Shropshire. Guests frequently praise its cleanliness, comfort, and tranquil atmosphere, with many appreciating the friendly farm dogs and helpful owners. The property offers good access to local attractions, though the approach road is rough and may not suit all vehicles. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues and found the sofa uncomfortable, but overall, the cottage provides a relaxing and enjoyable retreat for couples or solo travellers seeking a quiet countryside escape.
Most guests found the property extremely clean and tidy, with only rare mentions of dust or minor issues. Cleanliness is consistently highlighted as a strong point.
The rural location is widely appreciated for its tranquillity and proximity to attractions, though the rough access road and remoteness are noted drawbacks for some.
The cottage is generally described as comfortable and cosy, with a good bed and heating. However, a few guests found the sofa and bedroom cramped or uncomfortable.
Facilities are praised as well-equipped and thoughtful, but some guests reported minor maintenance issues such as worn utensils, low shower pressure, and dated furniture.
Guests appreciated small touches like milk, tea, and coffee on arrival, but as with all holiday rentals, such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary.
A charming, 18th century detached barn conversion, featuring a wealth of oak beams, trusses and wall timbers. The property has a light and airy yet cosy atmosphere, offering all modern facilities. Perfect for a romantic break for two.
The small village of Billingsley is surrounded by beautiful Shropshire countryside and is just seven miles from Bridgnorth. In addition to lots of walking and cycling facilities, the region boasts a wealth of country parks, great houses, museums and picturesque villages. Visitors can enjoy a trip to the nearby town of Bridgnorth - winner of ‘Britain in Bloom' - which is composed of the High Town and the Low Town connected by winding streets and flights of steps. The town's Saturday street market provides an excellent chance to explore the impressive castle ruins or to take a ride on the funicular railway. This passes what Charles I called 'the finest view in all my kingdom'. With easy access to The Royal Air Force Museum, Ironbridge Gorge, and the towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow, this is an ideal base for an enjoyable break.

The drive from the road was terrible, many deep potholes. The property was dated and had doors that do not close and an oven that did not work. The bed was comfortable as were the armchairs, they looked as if they had been sourced from a nineteen fifties elderly folks home. There were no reviews in the book provided since June so perhaps the property had been empty for a few weeks. The welcome pack we have come to expect was a jug of milk! We left a day early! A very curates egg!

We had everything we needed, we found out beforehand the duvet & pillows were down, so we took our own (wife has allergies to feathers). It was nice & quiet, only the passing, cow, dog, cat, rabbit disturbed the tranquility oh & the farmer in his little 4x4 but if you don't want farm action don't stay on a farm, it really is that simple. The only negative point was ventilation, there are 3 doors opening onto the courtyard, but only a small window in the lounge. The rooms got hot without the doors being opened & although I'm 100% sure we would be safe it didn't feel right sleeping with the bedroom door opening onto a courtyard, which meant overnight it was quite stuffy in there. But a great place to step off to go exploring the surrounding area, great breakfast at the Bewdley Museum, Bridgenorth, Acton Victorian farm, but best to visit that one when it's open as we got our days wrong. Then there West Midland Safari Park, Severn Valley Railway, the engine shed is free to visit. All in all a wonderful cottage to visit & stay, would we go back, absolutely.

It is situated on a working farm and is also home to a racing stable. As such the approach to it is somewhat bumpy. Perfectly achievable in a standard car but I would hesitate to take a low slung roadster down there. It is in a good area for visiting several NT properties, the Severn Valley Railway and Ironbridge as well as some pretty market towns. There are some lovely walks in the area as well. It's a few miles to the nearest shops so make sure you don't forget anything. The Ship at Highley is in a lovely setting on the side of the river and the food was very nice.
