A superb conversion of a former barn, Virginia Cottage is situated on a working farm on the edge of Acton Burnell in this peaceful and undiscovered area of Shropshire. Detached and built of traditional local brick, the cottage offers accommodation of a very high standard being tastefully decorated in a contemporary yet cosy style. It is light and airy throughout and there are French doors opening onto two private patio areas where guests can relax with a glass of wine on warm summer evenings. The owners live at the farm and personally welcome visitors. A perfect retreat to 'get away from it all' and explore the hidden delights of Shropshire!
The pretty little village of Acton Burnell is set in rolling farmland a few miles from Shrewsbury and takes its name from Robert Burnell, famous for building the lovely castle and church here in the 13th Century. Robert Burnell, who built the castle, also built Acton's Church of St Mary, which is still in use and remains one of the most complete 13th century village churches in Britain. Acton is well-placed to explore further Shropshire attractions, such as Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Attingham Park and Shropshire's capital: Shrewsbury. There are plenty of walking and cycling opportunities, especially amongst the historic Shropshire Hills.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was just perfect infact the pictures do not do the property justice. There are lovely walks not too far from the cottage especially the castle ruins through a wooded area which put dog absolutely loved. It you want to eat out the pubs in the surrounding areas are lovely and if you want a day out in Shrewsbury with all its quaint little towns independent shops then the park and ride is the way to go! We had the best time and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a well deserved break.

Spacious and comfortable and nicely decorated with good kitchen facilities and equipment. The outside space, patio, is fairly secure, but a small dog could get out, and the farm location is quite remote, being 5 mikes through lanes to a main road. The hosts are friendly and helpful. Very enjoyable stay for a week.

Nice and spacious with well equipped kitchen. Logg burner was brilliant and easy to control. Great space outside for the dog which was enclosed. Only negative was the sofas were not particularly comfortable. We would definitely stay again
