Guests say

Broad Meadows Farmhouse is highly praised for its stunning countryside views, spacious and comfortable rooms, and excellent outdoor spaces including a hot tub and fire pit. Guests appreciate the peaceful location, well-equipped kitchen, and thoughtful touches such as welcome packs. While some minor maintenance issues and occasional cleanliness concerns were noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it ideal for large family gatherings or group stays.

Most guests found the property clean and well-prepared, with particular praise for the bedrooms and bathrooms. However, a few reviews mentioned issues such as a dirty BBQ, some kitchen items not being fully clean, and blankets with pet hair, which slightly lowered the score.

The location is consistently described as beautiful, peaceful, and offering spectacular views. Its quiet village setting and proximity to local walks and pubs are frequently highlighted as major positives.

Guests found the house spacious, cosy, and comfortable, with large bedrooms and quality linen. Some noted the living room was a bit small for 12, and a few mentioned issues with heating and noise in one bedroom, but overall comfort was rated highly.

The property offers excellent facilities, including a hot tub, BBQ area, and well-equipped kitchen. Some guests noted maintenance issues such as worn outdoor chairs, a broken oven, and tired kitchen equipment, but these did not significantly detract from the overall experience.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful extras such as welcome packs, ample towels, and supplies of tea, coffee, and wood for the log burner. Please note, these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Step into an exquisitely restored 17th century farmhouse, where timeless heritage and modern refinement exist in perfect harmony. Poised high above rolling, unspoilt countryside, Broad Meadows commands breathtaking panoramic views. This is an extraordinary setting designed for those who appreciate space, beauty, and a slower, more luxurious way of living. Broad Meadows is the perfect space for family and friends to come together, slow down and create unforgettable moments filled with warmth and joy.

Set on the edge of the quiet village of Bayton, where Worcestershire meets Shropshire, Broad Meadows Farmhouse sits within open countryside that seems to stretch endlessly in every direction. As you approach, the house comes into view gently, its warm red brick and balanced, elegant frontage giving a clear sense of its long history. Dating back to the 1690s, it was once the principal farmhouse of the Shakenhurst Estate, and that heritage still shapes the feel of the place today.

Inside, the house is welcoming rather than formal. Exposed timber beams run across the ceilings, and light filters in through traditional lattice windows, drawing in views of the surrounding fields. The rooms feel generous and comfortable, with space to gather together as well as quieter corners to step away.

The kitchen naturally becomes the centre of the house. It is well equipped and thoughtfully laid out, with a large island and plenty of space to cook, chat and spend time together. Mornings tend to start here slowly, with coffee and conversation as plans for the day take shape. From the kitchen, the flow leads into the dining area, where a long table brings everyone together. With doors opening out onto the terrace, it is easy to move between indoors and outside, especially in warmer months.

Later in the day, the sitting room offers a different kind of comfort. Exposed brickwork and a log burning stove make it a natural place to settle in the evening, whether that is for a glass of wine, a film or simply some quiet time. There is also a snug, which works well as a separate space for reading, relaxing or giving younger guests somewhere of their own.

Upstairs, the bedrooms feel calm and uncluttered. Many sit beneath vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, and large windows frame views across the countryside. The beds are comfortable and can be arranged to suit different groups, while the styling remains simple and considered. Bathrooms are modern and well finished, with walk-in showers and, in some rooms, freestanding baths that add a sense of quiet luxury.

Outside is where the setting really comes into its own. The terrace opens onto wide lawns with far reaching views, and it is easy to spend whole days moving between sitting, walking and simply taking in the surroundings. The outdoor dining area is designed for long, relaxed evenings, with a large table and central fire pit that draws everyone together as the light fades.

Nearby, the hot tub is positioned to make the most of the view, offering a place to switch off completely as the countryside settles into evening. Tucked within the grounds, the treehouse adds something a little different, a raised spot to take in the landscape from above or simply enjoy a quieter moment.

There is a natural rhythm to time spent here. Mornings are slow, days can be as active or as restful as you choose, and evenings tend to stretch out without much effort. Broad Meadows Farmhouse is not about formality or show, but about space, comfort and the chance to properly unwind in a setting that feels both peaceful and quietly special.

The house was absolutely excellent , with so many pluses and the outside seating and barbecue/ fire pit areas and hot tub were exceptional. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms, and a great position and views. Very clean, and a lovely welcome hamper. The downsides were simply that there was no information file on anything, papers were found jumbled in drawers and you had to search for things. The kitchen equipment was rather disorganised. We only found a cupboard full of games as we were leaving. I should say the owner was very helpful with things he apologised that an oven had just failed but fortunately we didn’t need that one. Nevertheless we had a lovely time and would definitely return.

Thoroughly enjoyed our family stay at Broad Meadows. The house was well equipped.with lovely spacious rooms. The views from the property were stunning and the grandchildren certainly enjoyed the harvesting that was going on around us. The hot tub was a great success and was well used. The surrounding area provided some good days out including Ludlow, the Wyre Forest and the safari park.
