Guests say

1 Horsehold Cottage is praised for its stunning views, cosy atmosphere, and excellent location for walks and exploring Hebden Bridge. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the tranquillity of the surrounding area. Some concerns were raised about access to the garden and the steep hill leading to the cottage.

The cottage is generally described as very clean, with only minor issues such as unclean pots and pans and a few instances of overlooked areas. The overall impression is of a well-maintained property.

The location is highly valued for its stunning views and proximity to local walks and Hebden Bridge. The steep hill and direct road access are noted, but these do not significantly detract from the overall positive reception of the location.

Guests find the cottage cosy and warm, with a welcoming atmosphere and comfortable furnishings. Some guests mentioned the property being cool in the evening, but the presence of a log burner and central heating generally contributes to a comfortable stay.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a good kitchen and quality bedding. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues such as a flashing fridge light and the need for better organisation of information. The lack of hot water and heating concerns were addressed promptly by the hosts.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches beyond the standard amenities provided, so it is not possible to score this category. However, the hosts are noted to be welcoming and responsive to guests' needs.

We love walking with our dog so this was an absolutely perfect location. We loved walking to Stoodley Pike, hardcastle craggs and along the canal. We only used the car a couple of times during our stay. Weather was changeable but we had waterproofs.

The hill was unexpectedly steep and very narrow to drive up. Other than the electric shower, I didn’t have hot running water. I used the kettle to heat water for washing dishes and washing my hands/face in cold water was not terrible. The place was chilly (there was a high of around 15°C most days). I switched the heating on but only felt any heat one time, and even then it was by touching the heater - I didn’t actually feel warm. The thermostats were set to 18°C which is well below standard “room temperature”. I kept a pullover on and used a blanket. For the household waste and recycling there were no containers in the side alley so I had to leave them. All that said, the location was very picturesque and, other than the hill was pretty convenient for Hebden Bridge and other places nearby. If you are planning to be out most of the day this could still be a good place to stay.

Over our five visits we have always found the owners to be lovely and accommodating, we appreciate their quick response when and if an issue arose, for example the previous tenants didn’t let them know there was no hot water. This wasn’t really an issue for us per se as we had an electric shower & dishwasher to utilise, but felt it was the right thing to do to let them know - it was sorted immediately. I cannot recommend this cottage enough, it’s situated in stunning surroundings and each window gives you a view to die for. Thank you for sharing it with us. Jon & Sue
