For those wishing to explore a little further afield, York, Whitby and the Yorkshire Moors are all less than an hours’ drive away.
The kitchen has a working Aga, but don’t worry an electric oven is also available for those not wishing to use this traditional farmhouse oven. An Aga cookbook is on hand with lots of delicious recipes to try. The dining room sits in the middle of the property and retains the sweeping staircase and a large picture window. The Hind House offers plenty of outside space too with a kennel for dogs, a bike store for keen cyclists, a large-enclosed garden for children to play in and a patio area perfectly placed to enjoy the evening sun and al fresco dining. With miles of public footpaths, cycle paths, the Wolds Way, easy access to the coast and so many places to visit and explore. This area of East Yorkshire is very popular with country pursuits enthusiasts in the summer and winter months, and the property has a lockable cabinet for your own gun. We stayed at Hind House in October, and found it warm, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The house is in a lovely location way out in the countryside with amazing views, and the hot tub was a fun addition for the family. The host (Rachael) was friendly and welcoming, and so helpful when we had a question about the house. I would highly recommend Hind House as one of the very best we have stayed in, and we have stayed in a lot!

Very spacious, comfortable, clean and well-equipped house. Plenty of interesting historic footpath walks with far-reaching views directly from the door, and it was safe to let the dog off lead for most of those, as there were only a very few enclosed sheep fields (at this time of year anyway - autumn) to be careful of with lead back on. The jacuzzi in the garden was fun to use. The only slight downside for us in particular, but which may not matter for most people, was that the very nice large garden is not secure for dogs so we weren't able to let our dog out there not on her lead, especially as there was a small amount of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, due to the adjacent public footpath and road. However as there is lots to do in the surrounding area, including some lovely long sandy beaches not far away, this was not a major issue as we were out for most days. Two local pubs (Old Star and Triton Arms) both with excellent food and real ales were a very short drive away. Overall an excellent house and location.

Wonderful cottage, comfortable beds and everything you could wish for in a self catering cottage. Rachael was kindness itself and we hope to come back next year for our annual family get together in Westow.
