Guests say

Station House in Hornsea is a well-regarded holiday rental with guests praising its excellent location, comfort, and thoughtful touches such as a welcome basket. The property is appreciated for its proximity to the beach, local amenities, and the Pennine Trail. It is described as cosy, warm, and well-equipped, making it a popular choice for return visits. While some guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

Most guests found Station House to be clean and tidy, with a few noting it was spotless. However, some guests mentioned issues with dust, webs, and pet odours, which suggests room for improvement in this area.

The location is consistently praised for its convenience to the beach, local amenities, and the Pennine Trail. Guests appreciate the easy access to outdoor activities and nearby shops, making it an ideal spot for holidaymakers.

Many guests describe their stay as comfortable, with a warm, cosy atmosphere and a comfy bed. However, a few guests mentioned an uncomfortable mattress and noise from an upstairs flat, which slightly lowers the comfort score.

The property is generally seen as well-equipped and maintained, with a special mention of a clean shower room and kitchen. Some guests, however, reported issues with appliances and a non-working fire, indicating that some facilities may need attention.

Guests have expressed appreciation for thoughtful gestures such as a welcome basket and freshly planted flower pots. While these are well-received, it is noted that such gifts are a kind bonus and not a guaranteed feature of every stay.

The property has been tastefully restored and enjoys some sea views from both bedrooms, and the twin bedroom has a 24" Freeview TV and DVD player.

The sandy beaches are about 200 yards away, and there is a boat compound with launching facilities for boats, ribs and jetskis giving access to the sea. It is centrally located in the unspoilt seaside town of Hornsea, known as ’Lakeland by the Sea’, due to the presence in the town of Yorkshire’s largest natural freshwater lake, Hornsea Mere. Not only is the property close to the beach and promenade with its cafés and fish and chip shops, but it is also a short level stroll from the heritage town centre with its museum, shops, restaurants, cafés, bars and public parks, making it an ideal base for those wanting to relax and enjoy the area. Within just a few hundred yards of Station House you will find an indoor soft play facility and Hornsea’s main leisure centre, which offers an indoor heated swimming pool, gym, café and other facilities. Hornsea is also the finishing point for the Trans Pennine Way; from your doorstep you can cycle or walk through the town and out into open countryside on these wonderful, largely level, maintained leisure trails. Activities locally also include sailing and bird watching at Hornsea Mere, Hornsea Golf Course, Freeport shopping centre, Honeysuckle Farm and there is a boat compound with launching facilities. Further afield you’ll find The Deep (a huge aquarium) at Hull and, of course, Bridlington, Scarborough, York, Filey and Flamborough. Whatever the weather, and however you like to spend your holidays, either relaxing or being active, a stay at Station House in Hornsea will surely delight. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
