The village of Roos is home to Melbourne Butchers & Bakery which offers amazing fresh, local produce and baked goods as well as essentials, with two pubs as well, all within walking distance of Thames Cottage so you can head out for the evening and not worry about driving back. One of the best spots for fishing in the area is Tunstall Beach, while the beach at Withernsea is popular for windsurfing and sailing, has lifeguards patrolling in summer and is backed by a beautifully redeveloped promenade with a number of great cafés, fish and chip shops and pubs. Over in the bustling city of Hull you can find a host of attractions like The Deep which is Hull's huge aquarium home to over 3000 creatures including sharks, Hull Minster known as England's largest parish church and home to a 17th century organ, the Queen's Gardens, and of course the River Hull and Humber Estuary where boat cruises and trips can be enjoyed. Over in Burton Constable you can delight in exploring the 16th cenutry estate of Burton Constable Hall & Gardens, it's a historic day out with a house tour, fascinating artefacts and collections, and beautiful grounds.
