I stayed at Balderstones from the 21-24th of August. I have quite a special relationship with the location. As a child, my grandparents lived in the cottage adjoined to the barn for decades. I spent the first 20 years of my life visiting and staying there, 4-6 times a year. This place was and is very important to me. Back then, this barn was falling apart, good for a coal pit and dingy bathroom only. The owners, who are lovely, have done such a service to both the barn and the cottage. They have done incredible work, and seem genuinely dedicated to preserving Newby Cote. The barn is beautifully converted and extremely comfortable, while hosting some of the original elements of the ancient building. It was such a pleasure to return, so many years later. Stay there. There is no way you will not enjoy it.

Stayed 3 nights, 2 adults a child and a large dog. It was perfect in size and beautifully decorated. Balderstones Barn was homely and comfortable for all of us, from the friendly information pack, the welcome bread and essentials, the dog treats and supplies; everything has been thoughtfully included - it felt like a home from home. Our daughter loved the mezzanine bedroom and our lab loved the perfectly sized garden and outdoor space. The location is fab for walks and with a car is within reach of a few local villages.Thank you for a lovely stay - we will definitely be returning!
