An outstanding stone barn conversion, in the small hamlet of Tatham on the rural outskirts of Bentham, 8 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. Lovingly converted and set in the grounds of the owner's farmhouse, this delightful property sits between the dairy and the farmhouse and boasts exposed beams, underfloor heating, three bathrooms and fabulous countryside views with the magnificent Three Peaks dominating the skyline. With great walking, cycling and wildlife spotting available from the doorstep, this is the perfect home from home. A range of local towns with great amenities are nearby, such as Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle and Ingleton, whilst the Cumbrian town of Kendal is within easy reach. An ideal base for a relaxing holiday!
High above the traditional Yorkshire market town of Bentham, the tiny hamlet of Tatham sits on the edge of Burnmoor overlooking The Great Stone of Fourstones - an Ice Age relic which marks the boundary between Lancashire and Yorkshire. This ancient monument has become a distinctive feature of the landscape boasting spectacular views over the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forest of Bowland - a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Excellent walking and cycling routes cross all three of these stunning areas, whilst nearby Bentham boasts a range of amenities and a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. Fantastic views outside, (cows, sheep, chickens and wallabies as neighbours!) comfy and plenty of space indoors, very well equipped. Walks straight from door. (If you want to be in the hub of things - this is not for you- need a car to get to shops and pubs - it was perfect for us). Situated well for visiting the lakes or dales and forest of bowland. Owners friendly and helpful. We loved our time at Usherwoods Barn and would definitely rebook and definitely recommend to anyone who wants to escape to peace and quiet.

The only sounds you hear are sheep, birdsong and bees buzzing. The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped. It's warm and spacious, but cosy too. The kitchen is very well equipped, with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits provided on arrival. High Bentham is handy nearby for basic supplies, takeaways and pubs. This was our second visit to Usherwoods, the first time staying at the Dairy next door, which is equally beautiful with the added bonus of a ground floor bedroom. There were just the two of us staying here for a wedding this time. Our previous stay was for a family gathering. My brother said it was the best holiday cottage he'd ever stayed in. I couldn't agree more. We hope to come back again before too long.

It was wonderful, well equipped with everything you could possibly need, comfy and clean with stunning peaceful views. The owner was very helpful and accommodating and even let us stay a little longer on our last day.
