"Cosy on a evening. Everything you needed at hand. Cleanliness was of high standard too."
    Mrs Alexander – 1 Oct 2018
"As is actually a cottage split into 2 it was very noisy when there was people up stairs."
    Mrs Drinkall – 1 Aug 2018
"The cottage was just perfect, it was cosy, very clean, very close to the square, but best of all it was dog friendly."
    Mr Ibbotson – 1 Jun 2018
"The accommodation is a perfectly comfortable, well appointed ground floor bedsit. We stayed 3 nights at the opening weekend of the Grassington festival and this place is slap bang in the middle of the town. Uphill on one side of you is the old enigmatic graveyard, and going downhill next door but one you have an excellent chippy (didn't smell and is only open a couple of hours a day) and best of all next to this is the Blackhorse. You may think, like me, that's perfectly located, but then there are 3 more pubs within a couple of minutes of this, all the fine arts and crafts shops, and also tearooms aplenty if you like that type of thing. If you like to sit in or drink tea in the garden then this is not really the place for you to stay. However this is Grassington, it's in the Yorkshire Dales, so who in their right mind is going to stay in. We like to walk too and there are numerous great walks from Grassington. We hiked to Kettlewell and back via Conistone Dib and the following day we did a walking tour of the local villages - Linton, Thorpe, Burnsall, Hebden - and then a gentle stroll down the Wharf back to Grassington. We have stayed all over the dales in many types of cottages and this is probably the smallest but we would stay here again. Oh and the locals will make you feel so welcome."

"The location of the cottage was a bit restrictive for parking but the Town Square was ideal to park only a small away. The village was lovely and located in a nice part of North Yorkshire. We will be back sometime soon."

"No problem to find the key. The home has been furnitured with much love for the detail. Well equipped. The backyard would probably have looked friendlier if the weather had been better. The landscape around is great, especially the Dales. Ideal start for traveling, walking, sightseeing. We enjoyed our visit to very much."

"The cottage was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend break. The location cannot be faulted as you are only a few steps away from the village square with it's many shops, pubs and restaurants - we would definitely recommend the cottage"

"The location of the cottage is excellent , very cosy cottage, We went on some great walks around grassington and to come back and relax in evening was wonderfull. huge very compy bed as well, lovely village, if you don't want to cook, plenty of places to eat out. .loved it that much already booked another weeks stay. what more can I say..."
    - HILLCOTTAGEBEWARE, June 2014
"We live relatively close by and as I work from home wanted to relax and be away from my working/home environment. Staying at blacksmith cottage made me think why do we need big houses and lots of clutter that we never use. It was compact, very well equipped, extremely clean and we were welcomed by a lovely bottle of wine. The weather was kind to us and we did what we planned to do...absolutely nothing. It was wonderful and I would highly recommend a stay here. Perhaps next time we will try lotties loft upstairs!"
    - Caroline K, September 2014
"We stayed in this little cottage in Aug/Sept 2014 and found it to be very charming and well equipped. The location is fabulous for lots of walking in the Yorkshire Dales and Grassington is a lovely place to be based as it is a lovely friendly village. There are three hotels that allow dogs and the food is acceptable pub food. If there was one downside, I would struggle to find one but it would be that it is a studio and quite small. However, the layout is very well done and there is a huge bed."
    - dj_vhughes, January 2015
"This is an absolutely delightful studio set right in the heart of Grassington. I booked it as a Christmas present for my husband and we both had a great time. We stayed there in a week when the temperatures were below zero and snow lay on the ground. It was very comfortable and cosy. There is one room with a large bed and a couple of sofas and chairs. The kitchen and dining table are around the corner. It is extremely well stocked. All the usuals but also books, DVDs, guides as well as tea and coffee. Even a bottle of wine!! The location is ideal. At that time of year we were able to park the car in the square. Within a few yards were three pubs, a hotel with restaurant, an indian take-away and a fish and chip shop. We ate at all of them!! We also bought cakes from the cafe opposite the cottage. They were all good. We also visited the Old Hall Inn at Threshfield (perfect for fish and chips) and had the tasting menu at The Angel at Hetton. Lovely flat in a great village. Would highly recommend."
    - alfie4, March 2015
"In a very central position in Grassington. The studio is small and very well equipped, although may have too much furniture and unnecessary ornaments. The bathroom was a little chilly. On arrival, the remote control for TV was missing. We contacted the owner who suggested we look under the be bed! She contacted us later to say the previous tenant had taken it home with her. No replacement was offered. As we were only there for 3 nights it never appeared."
    - KeithBunn, November 2015
"Had a really wonderful week in this quaint cottage. I was very impressed by the quality of the interior, it was tastefully decorated with nice period furnishings. I felt completely at home as soon as I arrived. The whole place was clean and fresh. The owner has paid great attention to detail and it pays off marvelously. The bottle of wine is a lovely touch and reinforces the owners' desire to ensure you have a good time. The cottage is well placed for the town's amenities as it is just off the main square. There are three nice pub/restaurants within a hundred yards and a few yards further on there is a convenience store and a newsagent as well as gift shops etc. This was my first cottage holiday and it is going to be very difficult to better the experience - Thank you"
    - Mrs Norman, September 2016
"The cottage was lovely and ideally situated for Grassington village. We loved it however, there isn't a facility for parking your car at the cottage which it appears has put some people off from booking again. We knew the village so expected this but it may be better to say in the information about where you can park so that it isn't a bad surprise when people get there. The parking wasn't too far away but it was a little walk. However, you can stop outside the cottage to load and unload your car but as the road is single track, not for very long. It is 2 doors down from the Black Horse pub, which is lovely and convenient and there wasn't any noise from it at all. Because of the thick walls of the cottage there was hardly any outside noise at all and it was lovely and cosy. The most noise came from the people walking about upstairs and one night when the tumble dryer was put on which vibrated downstairs and did keep us awake. Some people, in the visitors book, had said that the bed was awful. it wasn't awful but I think the mattress either needs changing or turning over as over time there are definite dips in it where people have slept and this could be a bit uncomfortable. After finding my `spot' though it was fine. Everything that I needed in the cottage was provided including some lovely towels, which was a nice surprise as we have had some very thin ones in the past. It was very well presented and clean too. The nice touch was the bottle of wine left which went down very well. Overall though we had a lovely time and would definitely go back to Grassington."
    - Mrs Taylor, October 2016
"Very cosy cottage. Owner very helpful and solved broadband issue. Quite noisy due to occupants above but owner is already looking in to further soundproofing. Not much parking very near cottage but excellent solution was weekly parking permit in Dales National Car Park about 5 mins away - but well worth it as gave free parking in all other Dales car parks. Excellent food in village. Would highly recommend."
    - Mr Chambers, October 2016
"Photographs of the property are a little deceiving - do not show it is all one room"
    - Mr Davies, April 2017
"I didn't realise the whole property was one big room until opening the front door.parking a bit of a nightmare and there were no rubbish bins"
    - lomana123, December 2009
"Fantastic instructions re arrival. The cottage was a large studio with en suite, but very cosy and sweet. We used it as a base for our walking holiday, but it was lovely to come back to in the evening. The cottage is in the centre of Grassington and ideally placed to stroll home from one of the many pubs and restaurants. Grassington also has a small supermarket, bakers (great first thing in the morning to stock up with drinks and sandwiches before our walk) and numerous delightful gift shops. The only slight problem was that the cottage was on a narrow hill and it was very difficult to get the car down. As there was no parking, the car had to be parked elsewhere and you had to walk to the cottage. I could see this would be a problem to anyone who had difficulty in walking too far. Overall an excellent place to stay and very dog friendly."
    - Mr Jeffrey, October 2016
"The town and surrounding area well exceeded our expectations and was an area we will reconsider visiting on our next trip to England."

"Blacksmith Cottage was nicely furnished and the bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival was a friendly touch. Its location next to the fish and chip shop and a few yards from the centre of the village was ideal. The bed was comfortable and the accommodation was very quiet - the chip shop is only open 4 or 5 days a week and closes by 7 at the latest. There was no-one in the upstairs rental so I don't know whether you might be disturbed by people walking around overhead. The owners had left basic essentials, e.g. washing powder, kitchen roll, toilet roll, plasters (v. useful one evening). The only downside was that it was a bit cramped. The bed took up a lot of the living/bedroom and if one partner gets up a lot earlier than the other, there isn't anywhere very comfortable to sit and read the paper etc."
