Guests say

Wellgate is a cosy and beautifully furnished cottage in a quiet village, ideal for walks and a retreat in the Yorkshire Dales. Guests have praised the comfortable beds, warm atmosphere, and well-equipped kitchen. The local pub adds to the charm with friendly staff and locals.

The property is generally clean, with one report of an incomplete pre-clean which was promptly addressed. The consistent mention of cleanliness suggests a high standard.

The cottage is set in a lovely village with fantastic views and great walks, though parking is noted to be challenging. The proximity to a local pub is a plus.

Comfortable beds and a cosy atmosphere are frequently mentioned, although there are some concerns about space in the second bedroom and the downstairs toilet.

The cottage is well-equipped, but there are several reports of maintenance issues such as a broken shower door and a collapsed stable door. The lack of a sweeping brush and missing wheelie bins were minor inconveniences.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Lovely little place, with just enough of everything you need. We had a very enjoyable long weekend here, the weather was a bit wild, but the cottage remained warm and comfortable throughout.

This is a lovely cottage thoughtfully laid out and beautifully furnished with top quality equipment. It looks as if no expense has been spared. It had everything that you could posibly need, It was just like a home from home. Everything was immaculately clean. The water was hot, the central heating was comfortable and easily adjustable. I didnt need to light the log burning fire. A minor problem with the ensuite plumbing was dealt with swiftly and efficiently after contacting the owner. The bed was comfortable and because the weather was chilly, I made use of the hot water bottle which was provided to pre warm the comfortable bed! I had a very enjoyable stay and am happy to recommend this cottage for anyone wanting a quiet retreat in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Just a word of caution, the acces to the small forecourt is awkward and narrow and it is a tight fit getting a car in and out through the gate. Also parking is not permitted in front of the cottage.

Lovely cute cottage, beautifully furnished, local art work dotted around. Kitchen well equipped. Yes the downstairs toilet is small so drape a towel over the radiator when heating on. No parking just dropping off but the village was quiet when we stayed so not an issue. No shop in the village so bring anything you need with you. The local walks are lovely and it was a great getaway from everything. Pub on your doorstop with very friendly locals and staff who made us feel very welcome. Our dog loved the walks and the cosy living room, as did we.
