This outstanding, stone-built detached cottage is situated down a quiet lane in the small village of Marrick, just three miles from Reeth. This unique cottage dates back to the 17th century and was a former Post Office, along with the dwelling where the Post Mistress resided. Renovated to a very high standard, this delightful holiday cottage boasts a great deal of personality and charm, with a blend of original features and modern fixtures and fittings. The ground floor layout is spacious and charming with exposed beams and stonework throughout, and the main sitting room is cosy and warm with an open fire providing a lovely place to relax, enjoy a tipple and reflect on the day’s outing.
The snug, just off the kitchen, provides a lovely open fire for those cold winter nights. A spacious kitchen with bespoke furniture and breakfast area, along with a separate dining room overlooking the mature garden, complete the ground floor layout. Upstairs, the main bedroom is stylish and comfortable. A pretty double bedroom, a single bedroom with pull-out stacker bed and a useful single room ensure flexible sleeping arrangements for any group. Outside is a beautiful private garden with mature flower beds, sitting areas and a grassed paddock, ideal for ball games and the odd game of family rounders. Surrounded by outstanding countryside, the walking and cycling opportunities are endless, and the charming town of Richmond with its Norman castle, cobbled market place, Georgian Theatre and the abbey is within easy reach, as are Aysgarth Falls, Bowes Museum, Semerwater and Hardraw Force.
A first class cottage, perfect for a family break.

It was so clean and tidy and had everything we could possibly need. We would definitely stay again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Many thanks.

It is well equipped, comfortable and in a great location for exploring the beautiful dales. We enjoyed the visits from local wildlife into the garden, a Pheasant came right up to the window to say hello!

Firstly, 50% of the hob didn't work. The house could benefit from a deep clean. The shower in the upstairs bathroom was next to useless. Some of the furniture (especially outdoors) could do with an update. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the house in general. We appreciated the size of the garden which the children loved.
