About this property

Reeth 3.5 miles. Nick Jone, a charming stone cottage tucked near Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, welcomes guests to a tranquil escape framed by sweeping countryside views and a warm village spirit. Ideal for couples or small families, it’s a place to reconnect, recharge, and explore the timeless beauty of the Dales. Arriving at Nick Jone, guests step from the roadside onto a gravelled entrance bordered by neatly planted greenery, where the hum of the countryside and birdsong set the tone for a peaceful stay. The garden furniture invites slow mornings with coffee or relaxed evenings as the sun melts behind the hills. Inside, the open-plan living space unfolds across cool tiled flooring, where a rug softens the sitting area beneath leather sofas, perfect for sinking into after a day’s adventure. The farm-style kitchen, with its wooden fixtures and neatly laid table for four, encourages shared meals and laughter over evening games. A separate utility room offers space to stow walking gear and freshen up after muddy rambles, while a ground-floor wet room adds convenience and comfort. Ascend the wooden stairs to the first floor, where two restful bedrooms await. The double room, complete with a wardrobe and wooden flooring that lends a warm ambience, promises a peaceful night’s sleep. The single room with a pull-out bed offers staggering countryside views, which are occasionally dotted with sheep in the nearby field, a gentle reminder of the beauty just beyond the window. Both rooms are served by two shower rooms, each with walk-in showers, basins, and WCs—one thoughtfully placed on the ground floor. Outside, the garden becomes a haven for fresh air and quiet moments, whether you're unwinding with a book or strolling to the nearby pub for a hearty meal. As dusk settles, the hills blush with fading light, and the stillness of the countryside wraps around you. Beyond the doorstep, the Yorkshire Dales beckon. Take a scenic drive to Richmond, where cobbled streets lead to Georgian façades and the commanding Richmond Castle watches over the River Swale. Barnard Castle tempts with antique treasures and riverside walks, while the Bowes Museum offers a rich collection of European art. Or head to Leyburn to savour artisan cheeses and live demonstrations at the Wensleydale Creamery.

Nick Jone is a thoughtfully presented base for discovering the heritage, flavours, and landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales—where every moment feels like a breath of fresh air.

The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Reeth offers a fantastic base for exploring North Yorkshire's beautiful, sweeping countryside, whether you choose to discover the caves, cliffs, waterfalls or the plethora of walking and cycling routes that circle this vibrant and varied landscape.
