Coral Cottage is frequently praised for its warm, cosy atmosphere and well-equipped nature, set in a perfect location for exploring North Yorkshire. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, the access to Castle Howard, and the property's delightful decoration. Some concerns were raised regarding maintenance issues and cleanliness, but these were relatively few compared to the overall positive feedback.
Guests have mentioned a few cleaning issues, such as dead flies and cobwebs, suggesting room for improvement. However, the bedding and towels were consistently described as faultless, indicating a generally high standard of cleanliness.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to Castle Howard and the scenic village green, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. The setting is described as perfect and wonderful.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be comfortable, with special mentions of cosy living rooms, comfortable beds, and thick fluffy towels. However, one guest mentioned an uncomfortable double bed, slightly lowering the score.
While the cottage is generally well-equipped, there were several remarks about maintenance issues such as dangerously hot water, complex light switches, and a thin oven glove. These points suggest that while facilities are good, there is a need for better maintenance and safety considerations.

Coral Cottage is an 18th Century stone cottage of historical and contemporary charm. Each room is unique, comfortably furnished and decorated with different blends of vintage pieces from Castle Howard, and antiques and art from across the country. The cottage also benefits from a wood burning stove, enclosed front and rear gardens and ample private parking.
The delightful village of Coneysthorpe on the Castle Howard Estate sits at the heart of the Howardian Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perfectly placed in rural North Yorkshire; the North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire Coast and medieval city of York are all easily accessible. Castle Howard, which is just a stone’s throw from the village, is one of Britain’s finest stately homes and was built in the 18th century by Sir John Vanbrugh. The nearby market town of Malton boasts an impressive array of independent food outlets, cafes, restaurants and shops with popular food markets taking place each month.
The Howardian Hills and North York Moors offer endless footpaths and bridleways and are popular with cyclists, walkers and nature lovers. The rugged Yorkshire Coast includes towns such as Whitby and Scarborough as well as smaller fishing villages including Sandsend and Robin Hood’s Bay, all within an hours drive. The city of York is just 15 miles away and offers many attractions including museums, galleries, river cruises, York Minster, the medieval walls and a huge variety of shop and restaurants.
